501 Rotary-Cut Quilt Blocks
Excellent for
quilt
ers who use a
rotary
cut
ter. It gives different measurements for cutting different size
blocks
. It gives a colored picture as well as layout of the different pieces needed. I used it to make hot pads at a special size. No longer did I need to use mathematical knowledge to change sizes. Well worth the price!
Worth every penny, a great reference
This is one of the best buys I've made as I've decided to create my own
quilt
designs. The book doesn't teach you technique, rather it gives you a wonderful large collection of
blocks
that
can be made at 6 different sizes, and the gray-scale drawings make it much easier to choose blocks and colors because there are no colors already shown to distract you.

Do You Need 501 Quilt Blocks - Yes!
This is a great reference book for the
quilt
er, especially if you like to design your own quilts. I wouldn't be without it. You may have made a number of the
blocks
in the book, but the directions give you all the
cut
ting measurements for all different sizes of each block, from 4" squares all the way up to 12", 13" or 14" squares, and I find this so helpful when I am trying to fashion my own quilt design. Sure beats having to do all
that
math myself!
My only problem with the instructions is that they are basic cutting and piecing instructions and do not incorporate the "short cut" techniques that have been developed over the years for making half-square triangles, flying geese, and the like. I am an experienced quilter, so I can substitute those short cuts when I recognize they can be used - and they certainly making piecing easier - but someone newer to quilting would not be able to do this.
Judy's book deals with the blocks only. Unlike Marsha McCloskey's "Block Party"(which gives instructions for 120 different blocks but only the 9" square size),
she does not go on to give suggestions and instructions on how to put a block together to form several different designs or how to put different blocks together to form designs. I have both books and use them interchangeably. This really works great for me. If you can have yards and yards of fabric in your stash, you certainly can have two "block" books, and I recommend it.

Quilting
I bought this book because I haven't done
quilt
ing for years and had only done those
that
required templates.
Rotary

ting is the way to go. I plan to make every block in the book!
Great book!
This is a great
quilt
