Hits The Balance of Pragmatic & Inventive
The book hit the balance of being insightful, practical, and inventive (and yes, some stuff you probably already knew but have yet to master). The kind of book that will run your highlighter dry. Concepts like "reactionary workflow," "insecurity work," and the power of circles in creative pursuits really hit home for me.
Very helpful
I was hoping this book would deliver on the premise as I find it's one thing to have lot's of
ideas
but another to actually implement them.At any rate, the book was right on track about delivering the goods. It was insightful and gave me new ways to approach my projects. I really enjoyed the section on, "Pushing ideas out to your community. It gave me new insights to working with social networks. All in all, I'm really glad I got the book as it has given me some new ways to approach putting ideas into action.
Bottom line, it's one thing to have lots of ideas and aha moments, but another to sort them out and put the good ones to action.

If you are anxious and discouraged, you need Scott Belsky's //
Making

Happen
:
Overcoming
the
Obstacles
Between
Vision
&
Reality
//. This book is not so much about generating ideas for new businesses, coming up with solutions to the world's problems, or conceiving artistic breakthroughs as it is about making things happen. Hinged on Thomas Edison's famous words that genius is 1 percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration, this book is about making your amazing ideas spring to life and bear fruit.
Mining the philosophy at the core of the book and powering Behance, a company Belsky founded to help creative people and teams across industries "take action," Belsky spent over six years studying habits of productive individuals and groups who make their ideas happen. He compiled their best practices for success, some of which seem counterintuitive: generating ideas in moderation and acting without conviction, reducing projects to three primary components, encouraging fights within teams, seeking competition, and sharing ideas liberally.
Scott Belsky's //Making Ideas Happen// will turn your focus from being good at discovering great ideas to developing the capacity to turn these ideas into reality. This is one book that will help you make your dreams come true.

Great read for anyone who does anything.
I read this book with a group of like-minded leaders trying to figure out how to turn our
ideas
into
reality
. This book gave us a great starting place and created a lot of common language.
This is a great book to read with a team. I am sure it will become a standard read for any creative or entrepreneur...
How the world's leading innovators push their
ideas
to fruition, time and time again.
Edison famously said that genius is 1 percent inspiration, 99 percent perspiration. Ideas for new businesses, solutions to the world's problems, and artistic breakthroughs are common, but great execution is rare.
According to Scott Belsky, the capacity to make ideas
happen
can be strengthened by anyone willing to build their organizational habits and harness the forces of community. That's why he founded Behance, a company that helps creative people and teams across industries develop these skills.
Belsky has spent six years studying the habits of especially productive creative people and teams-the ones who make their ideas happen time and time again. After interviewing hundreds of successful creatives, he has compiled their most powerful-and often counterintuitive-practices, such as:
?Generate ideas in moderation and act without conviction
?Reduce all projects to just three primary components
?Encourage fighting within your team
?Seek competition and share ideas liberally
In an increasingly flexible and entrepreneurial environment, creative minds have the opportunity (and responsibility) to solve and change industries-but they can only do that if they overcome the
obstacles
. While many of us obsess about discovering great new ideas, Belsky shows why it's better to develop the capacity to make ideas happen-a capacity that endures over time.
