this book was in great condition. it was an amazing story sad but then what in life isn't accompanied by sadness? it was great.

Like a rich chocolate cake

Kite Runner was both filling and palatable, right down to the very last morsel. With a writing style as smooth as a light mousse, layered between a dense, heart wrenching plot, and topped off with characters akin to a dark ganache frosting that lingers on your taste buds, this book has a flavor that left me wanting more. It was that good.

Anyway, enough with cheesy similes...Here are my thoughts on this book in a nut shell:
- it read a little bit like a Hollywood movie during the last half, but I enjoyed that.
- It felt short in way of plot. (Childhood. Goes to America and gets married. Goes back to Afghanistan to save Sohrab. End of story.) Amir's whole life seems to be based around that one incident.
- I had to write a three page reading response about what this book made me think about and I had trouble stopping myself at seven pages. Redemption, non-violence, other cultures, etc.
- First book I've ever read about Afghanistan. It was enlightening to hear someone describe the positive aspects of the country to an ignorant American like myself.

The Bottom Line: Almost 2000 five star reviews out of 2700 total. There must be something special about this book.

to read it again. It kept me totally involved the second time around.
