The best and most informative book that I've ever read about the Monkees

Excellent, excellent job, Andrew! I never imagined that the Monkees would allow anyone to get this far into their world. Any Monkees fan would be pleased with this book. I've never seen many of the photos. Andrew has created a true labor of love and he is a super nice guy to boot! I just hope that he has other books in the works. God bless you!

Andrew Sandoval's book will join a small but exclusive group of others that look deeper into the phenomenal success of a TV show about a make believe band that sang songs by real writers, learned to play together while on the show and, in the end, became an actual band that sold records and stood the test of time.

The Monkees were a concept that played well, and with four young men who were well cast and meshed together into a cohesive ensemble that was immediately endearing, while irritating to those who believed that music artistic purity was somehow conjoined with coming together in some other way, with grittier details and more drama.

This book goes into more fascinating detail -- literally a day by day storyline -- than any other book about The Monkees. Other books about The Monkees are available that approach their subject matter in far more conventional and less detailed ways, but this book was an eye-opener for me, considering that I spent some time with one of their former recording engineers (I'm in the music business) who shared a number of great Monkee stories with me over time.

To make the acquisition of this book even sweeter, I was able to obtain it directly from Andrew himself, who autographed it to me. That copy will be a permanent part of my music library and, if you choose to give this book a deserving chance, will become a permanent part of yours as well, provided that you loved The Monkees growing up as much as I did.
