Nice reading

This book contains the stories of three separate Oregon women : Star, Hope, and Eva. The three are united by difficult experiences, trust issues, and the convenient location of the perfect man for them in their life when they are most in need. In the first story, "But For Grace," Star escapes from the saloon where her mother was employed, but is hunted by the proprietor who is determined to find her and bring her back. Next, "Everlasting Hope" tells of a widow who takes a wagon train to Oregon in an attempt to save her family. Lastly, Eva experiences a trauma and pushes away the ones she loves most.

This book was pretty much as expected: nice, dependable, a little predictable, but not bad. It's a comfort read more than anything else.

An okay read.

The stories in the book are not bad. I just felt that the characters fell in love to soon and that the plot had holes in it. I generally like Christian books like this, but it was not the best that I have read.

Terrific stories!

I have owned this book for four months and have already read it twice. It is full of everything a Christian romance should contain.

I have to give Bateman great praise for her novella collection. As a reader of heatsong presents and the barbour novella collections, I have many books to compare this to.

The biggest challenge with this type of book is that the writer is given only 130(ish) pages in which to develop characters and romance. It is difficult to manage and keep it believable. Bateman accomplishes this and much much more. She is able to create realistic, likeable characters, develop a romance that doesn't catch the reader totally off guard, and manages to weave in an element of intrigue or adventure.

This is a collection of wonderfully inspiring, exciting, hope-filled stories that will keep the reader wanting more with every turned page. Tracey Bateman- She has a gift for historical fiction and I hope to continue seeing her books around.

Great read!!!

I loved this book and I highly recommend Tracey Bateman for any reader, but especially one who likes to see characters have real dialogue, real problems and real everyday faith. I did not like typical Christian romances and was turned off to the whole genre until I read her novels!!! Now I am cautiously exploring other writers who seem similar.

Historical Romance: Three young women find themselves in new phases of life after each are touched by devastation. Eva knows her soiled present and tragic future will turn Jonesy's love sour. Will he opt for romance or head back to Texas to tend the ranchland he loves? A young widow named Hope want desperately to travel west to Oregon to begin a new life. But wagon trains won't take single women along. Star's secret past, old hurts, and prejudices may just keep her from the true happiness she longs for. With the recent death of her mother, how will Star ever get over her loss?
