Cute and touching kid's story...

I bought this because my 8-year-old son proclaimed that not enough kid's books had dragons. So, I asked a million people and this is one book that came up again and again. So, I bought it for him to read.

Then he tells me that it sounds stupid and he doesn't want to read it. Fine. I read it and laughed a lot. When I was done, he said he wanted to read it and I reminded him he didn't want to. Yeah, now he does (yeah, sneaky, reverse psychology and all that).

Anyway, this is a really really cute children's book about Jeremy, who, well... finds and hatches a dragon's egg! So cute and has some funny parts as well. I think my son will be pleasantly surprised.

Great Book Fun to Read

My daughter read this book recently as an AR (Advanced Reader) Book. She loved the book and couldn't put it down. She would have to tell me all the things that were happening as she read it. This is a Level 4.9 AR book and is great for challenging a 3rd grader who is a very good reader. I would highly recommend this book.

Before Eragon there was Jeremy Thatcher.

Bruce Coville has a knack for making the impossible accessible and does so in this tale of a young boy who stumbles into a genuine magic shop. The details are fuzzy since I haven't read this book since I was in grade school, but it's an entertaining tale about friendship and responsibility. I would highly recommend it to the sort of younger readers that lean towards fantasy and science fiction.

Great book! Easy read

I got this book for my 10 yr. old son to read. The book has a nice quick pace your never quite sure whats going to be on the next page. We were sure Mary Lou was a dragon hatcher too but guess not. The end was so sad we both cried. Great book for kids and adults!

When Jeremy Thatcher stumbles into Mr. Elives' magic shop, he leaves with a small marbled dragon's egg. When it hatches, Jeremy's wildest dreams take wing.      Includes an author's note.
