there were no problems with the item, it was delivered in a timely manner, and the item was as described. My compliments.

No credits on IMDB?

I saw Simens in an interview, liked him and what he had to say. I read pieces of his book, but as someone who works in the industry, I was slightly suspicious of his background.

Not having any credits listed on IMDB is really weird.

whether ideal or not, IMDB is the database literally everyone in the industry uses to verify credits and work background (because, you know, people lie).

I can only figure Simens' maybe doesn't have the background he claims he has, which would make me wonder what his advice is founded on. Or, for some reason his credits have been omitted and he hasn't sent IMDB proof of his work history. Not hard to do, and pretty basic if you want to be taken seriously as someone who has worked in film and television.

Even a solid explanation from Simen's... I'd listen...

When taking the emotion out of filmmaking, keeping it to facts and numbers, trying to raise money and be taken seriously, you can't get more straightforward than this basic step.

That's why I knocked off 2 stars. Because, though it sounds like good advice, I don't know if it's coming from experience. And as Simen's himself says, if you want to make movies from theory, go to film school.

The Best Film Production Book I ever read

And I have read a quite a few. I love this book. Dov's no-nonsense approach to Film production is amazing. His teachings on Writing the script of finding the perfect script are amazing pearls of wisdom that are working for me. No one can teach to write/come up with a budget like Dov.It made me not be afraid of the film industry and real independent still exists. This book made me take his 2_day Film School, and that wat the best 2 days of film education i have receive. Now i have a project in production and I'm following all of Dov's steps. Thank you Dov

Still a Great book to get your teeth into!

Although the book was written in 2003, Dov S-S Simen's highly knowledgeable approach to the "Film Business" is still being used today as standard practice of Independent to Blockbuster Movies. Dov provides the tools to help you understand the fundamentals of what it is required to finance you first feature and other valuable information that Film Schools don't teach you. I recommend this book as a fantastic foundation of industry terms, rules and tactics to "Get Real" and JUST DO IT! Keep in mind that this is NOT a book of Making Money Fast for Your Feature Film, but simply a tool to point you to the right direction. This book has helped me get projects off the ground and surfacing them to where it can be seen. Dov also has his site on-line with FREE updated info, and a 2 Day Film School on the Web and on DVD.
