This book changed my life
I love how well written this book is and how it gives you the tools to be a better person, mother and wife.
made me re-think so much of my mothering
This book gently leads your down the many roads of mothering and teaches us to get off the beaten path, slow down, see what really matters and to enjoy simplicity. It was a wonderful breath of fresh air for me.
A deep breath when you need it most.
I wish Katrina Kenison lived next door to me so she would invite me over for a cup of tea when I was feeling particularly harried (um, like NOW??). She has a way of reducing things to their most important denominators and forgoing all the rest. A great book full of mini-
reflections
on what it means to be a mom, and what we can do to bring a calmness and centeredness to our family.

A book that I go back to time and time again
To me this book is my inspiration to parenting. I have read it countless times when I feel that life is getting too hectic. I pick it up and just read certain chapters that are relavant to what's happening in my life right now. Sometimes, the whole book is in order. I don't "live" this lifestyle, but I take certain aspects of her chapters and apply them to my life in a way that fits. The one thing I love most about this book is that I don't feel like she's preaching to me. She's just telling me her stories. And I can take what I need from them and make them work for me.
This book is not received by everyone the same way. Some people don't connect to her way of living. But I don't view her book as instructions on how to live my life but as a gateway to open your mind and find what's really important to you as a mom and how you want to raise your children.
Some of her chapters, she touches on just being a kid, traditions, nature, mornings. These are just a few of the things that really hit home with me in her book. I loved my childhood and being free to just "be", to have the summer be mine with all the lazy days ahead of me...to be in touch with nature and discover what is out there in the way a pill bug moves or a grasshopper hops/flies...the simple traditions that my mom created and I looked forward to every Christmas, Easter, birthday...These are the things that I want to share with my children, to give them the opportunity to create those memories...this is why this book touches my heart...It brings me back to my childhood and I want to now create that kind of childhood for my 3 kids.

Mothers
are pulled in a million different directions while trying to give their kids joyful childhoods. They mistake activity for happiness and fill their kids' heads with information when they ought to be feeding their souls instead. This is a book for mothers who yearn to find a balance in their own and their children's lives. Through stories and suggestions, Katrina Kenison shares her insights into how to celebrate life's quiet moments, softly reminding busy mothers to pause and remember the deep sense of well-being that comes from a listening ear, an open heart, and a quiet little space carved out of time.
