A GREAT MONEY SAVER

I will say that I was thrilled to get the chance to review this book. First off I was really just thinking it would be fun to read and check out what things were in the book but I really never dreamed that it had so many things that I would actually be able to make and use so easily and for once I have almost all the ingredients that are used throughout the entire book and didn't need to buy anything.
First of all to begin with it is a very interesting read and it is full of Babushka's Beauty tips and advice that are spread out throughout the book. Then of course I had to start trying out all these great recipes to see how well they worked. I started with the dandruff shampoo and I was amazed. It works just as well and I love it because it smells great because it is made with my favorite bottle of shampoo and you won't believe how easy it is. I use my own shampoo in the same bottle it came in and then add the ingredient to take care of the dandruff. I can honestly say that I will never buy another expensive bottle of dandruff shampoo again and my hair won't smell like I use it either. That in itself is well worth the purchase of this book. The second thing I had to try was my own scented lotion and once again I was impressed. To say the least this book is a great read but for anyone wanting to save some money and still treat yourself to some wonderful pampering this is the book for you. This book is a great addition to anyones bookshelf and one that will get plenty of use from more than one family member there is something in it for everyone.

Babushka's Beauty Secrets

I really liked this book. It was a quick read and gave insight into how to take care of your skin and hair without spending a fortune. Ruder covers everything from acne, fine lines, adding body to your hair, to whipping up your own self tanner. It was refreshing to read about homemade remedies that came from her grandmother and the "old country" as there were ingredients I would have never thought of using on my skin or hair. The book not only contains recipes but old wisdom passed down from her grandmother. I recommend this book to everyone and thinkn that all will find it is a great tool in revigorating their skin, hair, and bodies.

I wanted to include one of the recipes in the book to give all a taste of what they were like. I decided on this one as it is summer and everyone wants to look good in that bathing suit.

This is the perfect body scrub to use before getting into a bathing suit.

Oat Couture
*2 tablespoons rolled oats, ground
*2 teaspoons brown sugar
*2 tablespoons aloe vera
*1 teaspoon lemon juice

Put the rolled oats in the blender and grind into a very fine powder. Place the powder in a small mixing bowl. Add the brown sugar and lemon juice. Mix well. Now add the aloe vera and stir to form a paste. Be sure there are no lumps. Dampen the skin and massage the paste onto it. Rinse with warm water.

I would love to hear from anyone that tries this or any of the other recipes in the book to see what they think. I know I can't wait to try them all.

This easy to use guide is perfect for everyone! It is filled with easy to use recipes to make your skin glow. I tried several of the simple one ingredient ideas such as an using the juice from an orange to get that all important Vitamin C as a rub. I left it on for 5 minutes and then rinsed with some milk on a cotton ball. I did find that milk with fat works much better than fat free. There are several other easy ideas as well. The most important thing I found in this book is a helper for dry skin. I used an avocado and some almond oil in paste and it worked better than my normal moisturizer. The best thing about the ideas in this book is that for any one with sensitive skin is pretty much guaranteed that you won't have any nasty reactions.

My grandmother all over again!

Having a graduate degree in Medical Anthropology, I was curious to read this slim volume. I was hooked in the first five pages. I think what brought me to the study of medical anthropology was my own grandmother's home remedies (she was from Hungary). I remember being quite young (~6?) and getting an infected finger. My mother and grandmother feared it would lead to blood poisoning. My grandmother made a poultice of crushed garlic and put it on my finger. I had to endure the horror of sleeping that night w/ the constant garlic odor but by morning the finger was completely normal. Believe me; I know firsthand the curative powers of garlic touted in this book are absolutely true.
The book is a delightful read - it's truly hard to put down. I had flagged so many pages and recipes, the book looked like a peacock.
Please indulge yourself and get this delightful little book. We can all be modern day Cleopatras!

Natural Glory!

Love it! We're all about natural in this house. And I like the style this book is written in. The authors are speaking directly to you. Like you're sitting right there at the kitchen table having a conversation with a couple of your girlfriends. And they give you 10 goods reasons why you should stock vodka in your house! Hilarious! There's a shaving oil recipe on page 111 that I've got to try. As soon as I get back from vacation, since I just used the last of my cooking oil on brownies this morning. The 1-ingredient recipe for gorgeous eyelashes? Castor oil! I'm already doing this, but it was nice to see someone else does the same. Most of the recipes I didn't know about, though, so it's not like this is a rehash of the same ole stuff. There's also an index in the back so you can find your favorite recipes quickly.

Just as the weekly magazines show us how to get celebrity clothing for less, Babushka's Beauty Secrets creates glowing skin for under $5.
If you like using natural products, saving money, and reusing and recycling - then you'll want to get your hands on a copy of this book.
