A Must Read

Simple, entertaining and relevant. If you would like to understand why we are experiencing an economic collapse in this country and abroad you'll want to spend a Saturday afternoon reading "How An Economy Grows And Why It Crashes". A simple book written for people of uncommon common sense.

Phenominal!! Highly recommended. I'll buy more to give away!

This book was an absolutely amazing explanation of our economy. The allegory, while not complete, perfectly explained the macro-economics of our nation, both in its beginnings and in its [sic] maturity. I highly recommend this book, and will probably give away copies.

Great

This is an excelent book! Worth every dollar. The world economy would probably be better if more people would read it!!!

Good buy not great.

Hi everyone,

This is my first ever review. It'll be brief.

I LOVE Peter Schiff. I've been watching YouTube videos of him schooling the talking heads of all the major financial programs for over two years now. Most of you already know that Peter is one of the only persons that saw this economic crisis coming. No one can deny him that - though those Wall Street biased heads do a good job of trying to by simply not acknowledging/mentioning the fact. (If you're new to Peter search YouTube for "Peter Schiff 2002" and "Peter Schiff 2005" and "Peter Schiff 2006" and "Peter Schiff was right". You'll see for yourself why he has so many fans).

Having said the above, I can't give this book 5/5. To me it seemed rushed - with too corny names for some of the characters and very amateurish illustrations. If I'd read it before having Amazon send a friend it, and Crash Proof 2.0, I'd have sent some other book in its place. (The latter book deserves 5/5 for sure by-the-way!)

As an introduction to Peter Schiff and the Austrian Economics he espouses I feel that this book is probably actually turning some people away from Peter and his message - which is a shame. Everyone needs to listen to him and others of his school of thought. The U.S. and much of the world has no hope of a meaningful recovery unless they do - and turn away from the Keynesian system that has brought us to the brink of economic armageddon.

So if you want to turn someone on to Peter buy them Crash Proof 2.0 and send them some YouTube video links.

Regards everyone,

John Burrowes

The book that those concerned about the economy should read

This book clearly explains the why and the how of what it takes to grow an economy.
It shows how an economy will crash. Peter is a wonderful author and those concerned
about what is happening in the US should read this book.

How an Economy Grows and Why it Crashes uses illustration, humor, and accessible storytelling to explain complex topics of economic growth and monetary systems. In it, economic expert and bestselling author of Crash Proof, Peter Schiff teams up with his brother Andrew to apply their signature "take no prisoners" logic to expose the glaring fallacies that have become so ingrained in our country?s economic conversation.

Inspired by How an Economy Grows and Why It Doesn?t?a previously published book by the Schiffs? father Irwin, a widely published economist and activist? How an Economy Grows and Why It Crashes incorporates the spirit of the original while tackling the latest economic issues. With wit and humor, the Schiffs explain the roots of economic growth, the uses of capital, the destructive nature of consumer credit, the source of inflation, the importance of trade, savings, and risk, and many other topical principles of economics.

The tales told here may appear simple of the surface, but they will leave you with a powerful understanding of How an Economy Grows and Why it Crashes.
