A highly addicting series
This is one of my favorite books! The writing style is extremely addicting and fast pace. All of the characters have depth and history. The story line is new and exciting and pulls you into the story. I have never gone through a book so quickly! I don't know why this is considered a children book though. It has some serious themes and gets a little gory, but in a satisfying way. I'm a picky reader. The writing style of the author is very important to me as is the main character. The book had a great leading female character, who is very strong and competent. The author doesn't repeat phrases, have shallow or washed up characters, and the plot is sci-fi futurey, which is my favorite.
The instant I was done with this book I got the other one and read that one just as quick! I can't stand that the third book isn't coming out for almost another year!!!

Okay quality
The book arrived in good condition, however it was missing the jacket to the book. I was a little disappointed about this. The book still arrived in a timely manner and in new condition.
The Hunger Games
This book is so amazing I couldn't put it down. I had to show it to all my friends. I encourage anyone who wants an adventure to read this book. The only thing left to say is: Welcome to the
Hunger
Games

So good!
Thoroughly enjoyable. I'll let you read all the other reviews because I don't have much new to say. I will say this, I've read maybe 5 "five star books" in my life. And I read a lot. This is one of the few. Definitely not only for young adults.

Worth all the hype
Walk..wait maybe you should run...to the bookstore, library or wherever you gets book and pick up a copy of The
Hunger
Games
by Suzanne Collins. I've read many wonderful things about this book. And if you look at ratings on Barnes and Noble or maybe Amazon, you can see it gets overall fantastic reviews. This made me hesitant, because I don't want to be disappointed. It's why I put off reading the Twilight and Harry Potter series for so long. But, I'm glad I didn't wait for this one (or least wait too long). Tthis book was everything I hoped and was looking for in a new series. I've read a lot of books this year, and only one other has captured my attention the way this one did. I borrowed this from the library, but you can bet I will be buying my own copy now. I have to warn you though, its part of a supposed trilogy. Apparently there were quite a few people who were upset by this (some people don't like books in a series while others didn't realize and were disappointed by abrupt ending). The sequal "Catching Fire" just came out on September 1st, and the 3rd book in the series comes out in August of 2010!

Katniss is a 16-year-old girl living with her mother and younger sister in the poorest district of Panem, the remains of what used be the United States. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The
Hunger
Games
." The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed. When Kat's sister is chosen by lottery, Kat steps up to go in her place.
