A treasured favorite
When I first picked up this book filled with so many unbelievably gorgeous illustrations, I didn't think the content of the text could possibly live up to them. My daughter and I were pleasently surprised. It has become her favorite book and a wonderous journey for young and old.
Pretty much the Bible of Deltora
I did not not exactly what this book would involve. I fell in love two years ago with Rodda's
Deltora
books and therefore had to read this one--wondering what "
Tales
" would be included. With all due respect to Ms. Rodda, it's not always wise for authors to go on huge tangents with a fantasy series.
So, happily enough, this stays close to the heart of Deltora. It is a book writtne by Josef the Librarian to give a brief history of Deltora, and is divided into two sections: The Tenna Birdsong tales of Jardis culture (Josef believes these to contain a nugget of truth) that tell of how the world came to be, and the Rise of Adin, which gives a marvelous story of Adin's coming and uniting of the seven tribes that rivals anything else Rodda has written.
This book shows that Rodda's genius of Deltora was not just limited to the series. While this could be enjoyed without reading anything else, it helps flesh out the Deltora magic.
A must-read for any Deltora fan.

Another Wonderful Deltora Book
My daughter has read the
Deltora
series and loved every minute of it. The series is wonderful and keeps the readers attention, but even after finishing the last chapter of the last book my daughter wanted something "more" from the series. This book provided that something more that she was craving and she has enjoyed it several times over already.

Really fills in the gaps
This collection of short stories about
Deltora
tie-in together really well. they also fill in the gaps about Deltora's history and tells how the magic Belt of Deltora really was built. Not as good as the series but still great.
