A Must Read

Lisa Morrone's book is a must read...all the way through, for it is a practical, and transformational book. The author targets not only the physical issues in overeating, but the emotional, mental and spiritual. Support programs for any addiction are a must, but so is getting at the "heart" of the matter to really effect change. Right in her title Lisa makes it clear that she is going to address the inner reasons why people over eat, and she does a thorough job! Great testimonials throughout give you hope about your own situation, and charts help you formulate ways to intervene in your own healing. I highly recommend this book and already have to friends and family members.

I highly recommend it!

Everyone I know is battling a weight problem. We are all looking for that next best diet to work. Well, here is a book that gets right to the heart of the matter. Lisa Morrone does an excellent job of teaching you that there are many reasons why you eat that have nothing to do with physical hunger. She clearly illustrates, chapter by chapter, how to recognize what you are really hungry for. You will see if you have a food addiction, as many of us do. This book will teach you how to recognize what sets off this addiction and how to manage it, so that you are able to keep the weight off. This is a Bible based way of thinking. We are given our bodies by God and Lisa shows, through scripture, how God wants our bodies to be.

This is a wonderful tool to help you lead a long, healthy and happy life! I highly recommend it!

This Book Changed My Life

God had been dealing with me about my overeating but I kept "joking it off" because I wasn't really overweight. At the beginning of 2010, our church held a 21 day fast for our lost loved ones. I decided I would fast dessert. Much to my embarrasement, I wasn't successful in abstaining from dessert for this 21 days. Realizing that I couldn't give up something,,,,, anything,,,, dessert of all things,,, for my lost loved ones, really struck a chord of conviction deep in my heart. I knew I had to search my heart and receive God's help in this area of my life. And, I needed to do it YESTERDAY! I found Lisa's book and set aside a full day devoted to spending time with God, searching my heart, praying and reading. I was able to finish the book in one day and by the end of that day, owned the fact that I am a food addict. Through Lisa's guidance and the work of the Holy Spirit, I was able to identify what some of the events were in my life that led to this addiction. I was also able to identify my food triggers. Since that day, with the help of God and Lisa's teachings, I haven't had a day where I felt out of control with my eating. I can't explain the freedom and peace I feel now. I'm so glad Lisa let God work through her in writing this book and I plan to share it with as many people as I can. It's an area where the enemy steals so much joy, self confidence, peace & health from God's people. I want to do my part to be a blessing to others and share the good news! We can overcome and enjoy food for nutrition, not for comfort!

An approach that works

Reviewed by Irene Watson for Reader Views (01/10)

The sub-title of this book says it all! Many people continue going on in life blaming their diet, blaming their genes, or blaming their thyroid or metabolism imbalance for their overeating. And, advertising, myths, propaganda and greed feed into this belief. Granted, in many cases overweight certainly is a health issue, however, one area that isn't addressed as much as it should be is "what is eating you?"

This is one area that Morrone in "Overcoming Overeating" addresses very thoroughly. She goes straight into the psyche and encourages the reader to look within themselves and address why they are overeating. But before this can be done, recognizing the issue and then acknowledging it are the most important. Once one realizes that they have underlying emotional or psychological issues they can then take the steps to avoid masking them with food.

I give kudos to Lisa Morrone for stepping out and providing this much needed book. The concise, but extremely educational, information and plan is exactly was may be in order for many of the readers struggling with weight gains due to overeating. As an advocate of looking for underlying issues I highly recommend "Overcoming Overeating: It's Not What You Eat, It's What is Eating You!" to anyone that is willing to step outside the box and address issues on an emotional level.
