The Picture Bible

Our Pastor recommended that we read this Bible to our young children. It has been a great Bible to read to them. We have learned new things as well. The pictures are very colourful.

WONDERFUL book I cherished as a kid and now MY child LOVES it!

I TOO have to disagree with the review written by Andrew B. Morseman. For one, I'm quite PLEASED this book doesn't go into detail of the story of Sodom & Gomorrah as I am not ready for my FOUR YEAR OLD to know that men were attempting to force anal sex on Lot's guests and Lot offers them to rape his daughters instead. This Bible is for CHILDREN and there are MANY subjects addressed in The Bible that are, quite frankly, NOT. I have not noticed any blatant errors or untruths in this Bible's text. Of course some stories are omitted and adult subjects "cleaned up." This book is NOT meant to be a direct translation of scripture, but a graphic novel of the Bible on a child's level.

I received this Bible when I was in 5th grade. I was obsessed with reading it every night. I LOVED it. It made me so curious about Biblical history and God's word. It caused me to read more and more of the real Scripture and other books about the Bible. This comic style book fueled my thirst for knowledge.

I now have a 5 year old son who loves to read this Bible and a 2 year old who loves for me to read it to him. The comic book layout is perfect for my 5 year old who is used to this layout from his reading comics.

Who cares if the woman who is drawn to represent Sarah at age 90, doesn't LOOK 90 (as mentioned by Andrew B. Morseman)? First, most kids think a 50 year old and 90 year old look the same - old is old! Second, we do NOT know what a 90 year old looked like in Biblical times. Since they lived much longer, they may have looked younger longer OR, since they had harder lives, a 20 year old then might look like a 90 year old now. We don't know what ANY of these people looked like! And, it doesn't matter!! What matters is that the reader can RELATE and understand the stories. This picture Bible is GREAT at accomplishing that goal.

Andrew B. Morseman also mentions stories taken out of order. Well, the King James Bible and almost every other translation of the Bible, does the same thing. Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus and so on through Jude and Revelation is a MAN MADE order and NOT the true chronological order of the Bible anyway. So, if stories are rearranged to help the general flow of the book, why not?

My review is not meant to bash Andrew B. Morseman. I just wouldn't want his review to turn any parent off to buying this Bible because I know what it did for me as a child and how it is aiding me in helping my children discover God's word.

Excellent Comic Style Bible for Kids

My son loves this book. He is 8 and he reads it non-stop. He can't stop reading it I think because it is just like a comic book and kids love comics!!! I'm a very satisfied parent. Not to mention, I had this book when I was his age and I could never put it down!!! That is why I got it for him....

Good book for your child

Great book. My 7 year-old daughter loves it and I find her reading it to herself. It has all of the mainstream Bible stories plus all the other stories that we tend to forget. It goes in chronological order with captions in the illustrations like cartoons. Every few pages they have a did you know page that gives additional information about the stories. It's a great way to get your child to read about the Bible.

Amazing!!!

An amazing Bible that my kids can't put down. Well, my husband and I can't put it down either. haha. It's so powerful and full of information! 100% recommend this Bible for your children as well.
