Comprehensive Text on Neuroscience

It is a very comrehensive book on neuroscience for undergraduates and post graduates in Speech Language Pathology. Excellent teaching material with good illustrations.I enjoy reading it and use it for teaching.

A well planned text

I am a Grad. student taking a Neural Basis of Comm. class. It's been over 5 years since I've had the prerequisite neuroanatomy class so I've been a little worried about being able to review and catch up. I'm glad I bought this book. This book has really great graphic aids which helps me understand concepts better. Just last night I was reading a description that wasn't making sense to me and then when I saw the diagram on the next page I was able to understand it. The writing in this book is precise and doesn't bog the reader down with so much detail that the concept is totally lost. It's not easy reading, but it doesn't put me to sleep almost immediately like some other speech anatomy textbooks have. Even if it's not your asssigned textbook, if you have to take a neuroscience/neuroanatomy class I'd reccomend this book as a good resource.

Neuroscience for the Study of Communicative Disorders, Third Edition remains an ideal resource that teaches neuroscience fundamentals without encyclopedic details of anatomy and physiology. This text takes a step-by-step, simplified approach, and contains relevant information in its application of neuroscience for students and practitioners in speech-language pathology and audiology--making it the perfect text! Completely updated throughout, the Third Edition reflects the most recent findings and clinical applications. The neuroimaging section now includes the latest techniques in magnetic resonance-based diagnostic imaging. In addition, there are significant updates to the discussions of cellular biology, neuroembryology, and consciousness. Moreover, the author has introduced new features to help students easily grasp key concepts and apply them in practice. For example, structures and neuronal pathways are now illustrated using multiple figures with different orientations to assist students in understanding and visualizing structure and function.
