Not another Cinderella story?
This book came highly recommended, and I read it thinking it was a parody, but got quickly bored, and frustrated by the arrogance and stupidity of someone so privileged.
Why would anyone in their right mind aspire to this sort of life style?
***Spoiler Alert***
Frede Ware is a Texas socialite and then some. Her days consist of taking baths, crossing her legs properly at the ankles and going to meetings at the local (very prestigious, fo no apparent reason)

League
. Then her leach of a husband cheats on her and runs off with her money. Who wouldn't? She's too stupid to be that wealthy. She is clueless that she's signed away her fortune (the only thing that matters), because she was busy getting a manicure, or something.
So, to get her money back, she hires her neighbor (whom she cannot stand, because he has no class, but frankly any reader with two braincells will like him far better than Frede). He strikes up a deal, including getting his wife into the Junior League. Hello Henry Higgins? My Fair Lady anyone? Yawn.
Good point -- unpredictable ending.

The devil in the Junior League
I was laughing out loud, crying, and cheering for Fredericka Mercedes Hildebrand Ware---- "Frede" to her friends. There is a great lesson in the book. Life definitely can throw us some curve balls but a
Junior
League
r always finds a way to get through these challenges with her head held high and looking beautiful.
While the author might poke some fun at the Junior League. It has been one of the best experiences of my life and I am a member of a chapter in Texas.
It is an easy read. I read it one afternoon with a couple of glasses of wine.

I laughed out loud
I LOVED this book. I have been searching for a book as enjoyable as Karen Quinn's The Ivy Chronicles, and I finally found one. If you asked me if I liked funny books, I'd tell you "no", but I might be in denial.I've read all of Janet Evanovich and I'm delighted that Linda Francis Lee has written so many other books. What a find!!! The antics of the characters, especially the heroine, Frede, just made me laugh out loud. The ending, which could have been weak, was very satisfying. I closed the book with a smile and a sigh. And now to order a few more of Lee's books...

What a great, fun read!
This book was well written and gave outsiders a sneak peek into the world of the
Junior
League
. It is a fun book. I've given it as a gift to many younger people (nieces, etc.), friends who may not read often and others whom I thought might enjoy this delightful book. EVERY single person I've given this book to has told me they thoroughly enjoyed it and asked for another selection just like this one. Honestly, it's hard to top this fun, easy-going, compelling read. Five Star! Way to go girl.

Junior
League
r Linda Francis Lee has crafted a scandalously delicious novel that takes you deep into the heart of Texas blue-blood society.
The Junior League of Willow Creek, Texas, is très exclusive. Undesirables need not apply. Fredericka Mercedes Hildebrand Ware (Frede to her friends) is a member beyond reproach...until her life begins to unravel. When her husband betrays her, steals her money, and runs off to places unknown, it's something Frede would prefer to keep under wraps. The last thing she needs is to become fodder for the JLWC gossip mill. And to make matters worse, there's only one person in town who stands a chance at helping her get revenge?Howard Grout, a tasteless, gold-chain-wearing lawyer who has bought his way into Frede's tony neighborhood. But there's a price: She has to get his tacky, four-inch-stiletto-and-pink-spandex-wearing wife, Nikki, into the Junior League.
The crème de la crème of Southern royalty should sit up and take notice, and hang on tight for this irresistible tale of getting in and getting even.
