New characters, same great Gossip Girl
Good morning, Upper East Siders!
Gossip
Girl
here.
Oh yes. She's back. B and S and N and J and D and V have moved on (both figuratively and literally), but not to worry. Gossip Girl (who is she, anyway?) still has plenty of scandal to blog about.
There's a new family in town, the
Carlyles
, descendants of one of New York's finest socialites, Avery Carlyle. The mom, Edie, is kind of crazy --- you know, the artistic bohemian type. Her three kids are triplets: blond, beautiful wannabe-popular Avery, swimming hottie Owen, and bad girl brunette Baby. They have just relocated from Nantucket and are waiting to move into the spectacular townhouse owned by Avery Carlyle the First. In the meantime, they're living in the apartment that Blair Waldorf used to occupy, and Avery Carlyle the Second is having a heck of a time scraping that tacky Yale sticker off her medicine cabinet.
B and S have graduated, so there's a new queen bee around. Jacqueline, aka Jack, is one of the richest, most evil girls at Constance Billard, maybe even on the Upper East Side. Get on her bad side and she's sure to make your life hell -- which is exactly what she has planned for Avery. But Jack has a secret of her own, and if anyone learns it --- anyone like Avery --- her reign as queen could be over.
While Avery hopes to recover the popularity she didn't even have a chance to gain, Baby is trying to figure out ways to get kicked out of Constance Billard and sent back to Nantucket. Swearing in French is a good start, but it's leaving school in the middle of the day and hailing a cab to Port Authority that will really make people take notice.
Owen doesn't have to worry about his popularity. After all, he's hot. In Nantucket, he never had a lot of guy friends, so he's happy to befriend his swim teammate Rhys. All seems to be going well for Owen and Rhys (no, not that way) until Owen meets Rhys's girlfriend Kelsey. Funny how Kelsey looks exactly like this girl Kat who Owen had a summer fling with.
Summer might be over, but the Upper East Side is just starting to heat up. New York's richest prep schools are still as full of scandal and Prada as ever, and Gossip Girl is there to blog every minute of it with her usual acerbic wit. Avery and Jack are sure to be the best of enemies. Owen has only been in New York for a week, but he's already caught in a love triangle. And will hippie Baby ever fit in?
You know you love it.

Its GOSSIP GIRL DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been reading these books from book 1, I'm am a lover of
Gossip
girl
and i always will be. This book is really great .
eh...its an ok book
im actually surprised that i didnt like this book so much. im a huge fan of
gossip
girl
series (and the show), but this book wasnt even close to how addicting and great the other series were. i miss the old cast and their storyline. i wasnt drawn to any particular character, and some of their storylines were predictable.
basically this book is about three triplets(avery, owen, and baby) who come to ny, and try to get acquainted with the city. avery wants to be friends with the popular girls and become the student council. owen is inlove with his new friends girl friend, and baby hates ny and wants to go back to where she used to live.
thats pretty much the basic storyline.
what i did like about the book was the way the author writes. cecily von ziegesar, is one of my favorite authors. i like her flow in the book, and the way it doesnt drag on.
overall, this wasnt my favorite gossip girl series, but as a devoted fan ill give it another chance with the next book.

Pretty Good Start
Avery, Baby, and Owen Carlyle moves into Blair Waldorf's old place on the Upper East Side. Avery immediately wants to be a teen socialite, Owen is desperate to find the
girl
he fell for the summer before who lives in NY as well and Baby just wants to go home to Nantucket. As they all quickly find out what they want isn't easy. Avery's makes enemies with the wrong girl in school: popular girl Jack Laurent. Owen quickly finds out that the girl he wanted is the girlfriend of his only friend Rhys Sterling and Baby tries to get herself in trouble so she can be expelled and go home.
It's a good start to a new series and a lot of people are going to make the mistake of comparing the
Carlyles
and the other characters to the old characters of the now retired original series but you have to see it in a different light as a different series which is what it is. There is very little mention of the old characters in the blog and readers will have to know that the B in the book isn't Blair and the J isn't Jenny. Unlike in The It Girl, the characters aren't cookie cutters of the ones in the original
Gossip
Girl series. Although this book is mainly about the triplets, the character that makes the book interesting is Jack, who is supposed to be the Blair (or queen bee) of this series although if you ask me she's more like Cammie from the A-List. Jack stands out in the series and I can't wait to see what she does next since I know she wants revenge on the Carlyle girls after what happens at the end. So far none of the guys work for me. Just like with the original series there are only two main ones: Owen and Rhys and one supporting one, J.P. (Jack's boyfriend) whose point of view we don't get to read. Owen is a little too egotistical about his looks and Rhys is too sensitive after his breakup with Kelsey who isn't worth it anyway but there has only been one book so hopefully they will improve throughout the series. I hope the series doesn't get stale and boring like The It Girl did after the first three books, though.

Blair Waldorf and Serena van der Woodsen were the reigning princesses of the Upper East Side.
Until now.
