A Must Read!
A fantastic book ... I couldn't put it down. Just loved all the
run
ning anecdotes throughout the book. Awesome!
Loved it
Not much to add here but I just loved this book. I first heard about it on NPR and picked it up at the library. I'm not a
run
ner by any stretch of the imagination but I whipped through this book so fast I could hardly believe it. The author's pace and voice are entertaining and fast paced, the story lines are great and the content is absolutely fascinating from both an athletic and an anthropological stand point. I loved it so much I went out and bought it so I could re-read it and lend it out. It's inspired me to run more and run better.

This book is amazing
This is one of 2 books that literally blew me away this summer. My friend offhandedly mentioned this book to me on vacation. I downloaded a sample chapter to my Kindle, read that, downloaded the whole book, and spent a half a day curled up around it. I've
never
read a nonfiction book that I was completely unable put down, at least not until this one. I love inspiring stories, especially ones that aren't obviously TRYING to be inspiring. The author is a sports writer who loves
run
ning but kept having foot/knee issues. He starts researching why running is so hard on our bodies and through the course of the book, and his journey to find answers, runs into some amazing people - biomechanics experts, a
hidden
tribe
of Native Americans in Mexico, ultra marathon runners - and he discovers that our bodies really are built to run. You read about all these people united by their love of feeling their bodies in motion, for the joy of being out there, running like kids, who run because it feels good. This book really touched me, especially because in my own life I've been working on the physical portion of getting true life balance. This book makes you want to go outside and just run, to not see it as work or a necessary evil for keeping in shape, but as something that your body wants and needs to do to feel truly free

You will want to run.
Without going into long, tedious detail, this book inspired me to
run
barefoot, run longer, and gave me a deep and meaningful connection with exercise that I had once lacked.
An epic adventure that began with one simple question: Why does my foot hurt?
Isolated by Mexico's deadly Copper Canyons, the blissful Tarahumara Indians of have honed the ability to
run
hundreds of miles without rest or injury. In a riveting narrative, award-winning journalist and often-injured runner, Chris McDougall sets out to discover their secrets. In the process, he takes his readers from science labs at Harvard to the sun-baked valleys and freezing peaks across North America, where ever-growing numbers of ultra-runners are pushing their bodies to the limit, and, finally, to a climactic
race
in the Copper Canyons that pits America?s best ultra-runners against the
tribe
. McDougall?s incredible story will not only engage your mind but inspire your body when you realize that you, indeed all of us, were
born
to run.
