Right on the Money!

There can be no better alternative to lowering Cholesterol than the natural methods outline in this book. I implemented about 7-8 of the steps and incorporate some of my own remedies. I took lot of fish oil, krill oil and seal oil with lots of DPA included in the seal oil and Krill oil. DPA is also necessary along with EPA and DHA.

After 4 weeks my total Cholesterol went from 199 to 187, LDL went down from 127 to 102 and the most impressive is HDL increase from 44 to 71. I am happy. Thank you Dr. Janet Bond.


Buy the physical book, not the Kindle version

I'm just beginning to follow the advice in this book. I won't comment on the effectivness of the book, except to say that the advice seems very sound and there is exhaustive scientific research presented for each of the items on her list. My advice is to PURCHASE THE PHYSICAL BOOK AND NOT THE KINDLE VERSION. First, it isn't easy to flip through and find the parts that you might find relevant. Second, the parts that are presented in a sidebar or text box on the printed page are suddenly inserted right in the middle of an unrelated sentence and it makes absolutely no sense until you figure out what is going on. And third, and most aggravating to me, tables and menus are presented as a unit, and I have been unable to increase the font size or make them readable in any way. Perhaps it is just me and someone more experienced with the Kindle can figure it out, but I have tried to no avail. I even opened the menu page on my computer monitor, thinking I could increase the font size or at least print the page, but no luck there, either. Not only is the print tiny, but it's sideways on the computer. The author instructs you to copy certain pages to use as daily checklists, but I've been unable to print them. The highlight and print selection method has also been blocked unless I am doing something wrong. (Any advice would be appreciated) Frankly, I could use the menus to figure out how to incorporate everything into a manageable diet plan.

lots of good information

This book is loaded with good information including the science of what is known about cholesterol as well as the science behind her dietary recommendations. It also has a lot of receipes.....have not tried any yet. I am following the perscription to lowering my LDL given in this book and losing weight and feeling great. Time will tell if it works at lowering my LDL, put I'm feeling hopeful that it will and I will not have to take any statin drugs.

Worked amazingly well for me!

I have already recommended the diet and the book to several people. I personally don't use the recipies in the book. I just eat the things Dr. Brill says to eat daily. I also exercise 30 minutes per day as recommended. I lost 20 lbs in three months (from 206 to 186) and my cholesterol numbers went from too bad to measure to really good.

I was prescribed a statin drug about nine months ago and my bad numbers actually went up. Why? Probably because I didn't modify my diet at all. I actually think I ate more cheese burgers during the period between taking the statin and not. My test three months ago showed triglycerides of 499. This made the validity of the rest of the numbers questionable. Three month before that, I had a test that showed these numbers:
- Cholesterol 261 (should be < 200)
- Triglycerides 363 (should be < 150)
- LDL 153
- VLDL 61

Today, April 8th, 2010. I received the results of my most recent test and the numbers are good:
- Cholesterol 137
- Triglycerides 114
- HDL 53
- LDL 65

In addition to eating the food recommended in the book and walking 30 minutes per day, I also took Trilipix (last two months) and four 1200mg capsules of fish oil each day.

If you have high triglycerides, especially if they are too high to measure, you should ask your doctor about taking a fibrate instead of a statin. Trilipix and Gemfibrizol are examples of fibrates. I actually might stop taking Trilipix, just to see what the difference is without it. I am just curious to see how much the drug is actually helping me. Of course, these are my results. The book quotes several scientific studies and provides a bunch of anecdotal stories from other individuals. Ultimately, each person has to do what is right for them, which could be just changing their diet or it might include taking a medication as well. The important thing is to do something about it long before a build-up of plaque in your body becomes your demise. Good luck!
