Not Picoult's best, nor worst

The main character in Vanishing Acts, Delia Hopkins, is apart of the search and rescue squad. Delia and her greyhound Greta, find missing children all the time. Delia is a young mother with a four year old adorable daughter, Sophie. She is engaged to Eric,an attorney, who is one of her best friends form childhood. Fitz, a journalist, is Delia's other best friend, and sadly, the third-wheel in their friendship trio. Delia's father (whom she lives with), Andrew, is the most loving and caring father anyone could hope for. Widowed for 28 years, Andrew's wife and Delia's mother died in a car crash when Delia was only four years old. They had previously lived in Arizona, but Andrew and Delia moved to New Hampshire after the accident. Because Delia was so young, she doesn't remember anything about her past life in Arizona, or for that matter, anything about her mother.
This story takes off as soon as the police show up at her doorstep one day, taking away the life Delia had for the past 24 years.
Let me start off saying Jodi Picoult is one of my favorite authors. I have read many of her books and will continue to. However, this book I must say was lacking, compared to her other outstanding novels. It is the same format, with the trials and the controversy no one would know what to do with. Normally, her novels are extremely gripping and I want to read them in just one sitting. Vanishing Acts, though, had it's ups and downs. Some parts of the book were really well written and flowed well, where other parts seemed to drag on. She did add some Native American culture into the story which definitely added to a trip the family was forced to take.
I am glad I read this book though, but recommend just renting it form the library. Unlike many other of Picoult's novels, I don't plan on re-reading this one.

Excellent book

As always Jodi Pichoult keeps your interest from the first page to the end. She does a great job, and I always enjoy her books.

Tantilizing

This is a book that keeps you on the edge. This book provides an inside view of what it is like for a 60 year old to be in prison. It is also full of how passion and longing for the people you love can tear you in many directions.

It was a bit slow in the begining, but

It picked up fast. It was a great book. The ending was a lot like I expected it to be. I would tell my family and friends about it. Great read!
