Excellent Resource

This book is an excellent resource for anyone who is planning to breastfeed. It is easy to understand and basically is like having a "tutor" at hand. I highly recommend it.

Every new mom should own!

I first purchased "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding" almost 11 years ago when I was first pregnant. It helped to guide me and give me the confidence I needed to breastfeed when my daughter was born. This edition is AMAZING! I feel like I have a mom talking with me. Explanations are easy to understand and the whole book makes complete sense. This is well written and the best edition yet. I strongly recommend this as a gift for every pregnant mother.

Best resource for breastfeeding

So far this is an amazing book. I have just read the first three chapters and can't put it down. I felt compelled to write a reveiw to tell everyone this book is great for all moms. It even has sound birthing advice and the most up to date information on breastfeeding, birthing, and the old wisdom of mothering!

a cover to cover read!

As a mom to be, I know this will be an invaluable resource. My mother loaned me her copy of the 4th edition which, while also an excellent resource, is 22 years old and behind the most current research. The rewrite and re-organization of "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding" has increased it's ease in reading and access to straightforward information about breastfeeding. I loved the writing style and the frank and direct advice given plus the thorough resource section. The "tear-sheet" appendix in the back is a great tool, and I feel connected already to a good strong community of women who have chosen to breastfeed because of this book and organization.

If you plan to breastfeed, buying this book should be a no-brainer.

I wish I had this book when I had my first baby!

As I read this book, I find myself thinking over and over again, if only I had this book when my first baby was born, it would have been so much easier! This is a must read for any expectant mother. I love how the book covers the typical breastfeeding scenarios first and puts special situations in a separate chapter. I love the laid-back breastfeeding descriptions. I love the information on what it's really like right after your baby is born. I just love so many things about this book!
The information on how medications during birth affect breastfeeding may be hard for some to read, but are evidence-based.
I'm buying this book for every expectant mom I know!
