Photoshop Elements 5

I have Adobe Elements 5 on my computer but try as I might, I have barely been able to do the simplest things using the tutorial. After reading all the reviews I could find on books for the program, I settled on this book by Scott Kelby.

As soon as I opened the book up, I immediately tried doing the one thing I struggled with, and like magic, every step took me where I wanted to go. If I can read these instructions and accomplish in quick order something I've agonized over, anyone can!! The instructions are super-easy to understand, and the pictures are wonderful for those of us who need illustrations.

In the case of this book, it easily applies itself to a beginner, which I can assure you I am! So glad I picked this book...!

Proceed with "Caution."

I will give the Photoshop content in this book high marks. Unfortunately, the author also has the ambition to be a comedian and uses this book as a vehicle to spread his message of humor. I see nothing wrong with a "little" fun being placed here and there to break up the boredom that can creep into books like this, but this is waaaaayyyyyy over done, and it's pretty lame humor at that in most cases.
Buyer be warned.

Love this book.

This book is exactly what I was looking for. It skips all the boring explanations of the program and goes right to what you want to do. So, if you want to reduce darck circles under the eyes, it give you a few simple steps and BOOM you're done! The steps are super easy and I'm so grateful to have found a book that gives me exactly what I need. Thank you!

Finally I see the light

First of all a disclaimer.... I was a reluctant convert to Photoshop, being a somewhat old-fashioned, conservative photography from the days of slides and negatives. I finally bought a copy of PSE 5 at the urgings of some of the younger photographers in my club. However my use of this tool was very limited, because all the instructions I could find seem to need me to be a whiz at the computer.
Finally after reading Scott Kelby's Digital Photography books and really learning a lot from them, I bought his book on PSE. What a difference a book makes.... I love his simple conversational style, even his style of humor works for me. In a few shot days I have been able to learn techniques from the book that will help me improve my photography tremendously.
I would highly recommend this book to all PSE users.

Fantastic tool

I have Barbara Brundage's The Missing Manual, well thumbed, but this is the book I'll be turning to most often. Not nearly as techy, basic English, step-by-step instructions, good illustrations without going into much detail as to how Photoshop works. I've had my program for two or more years, use it casually, but am always trying to improve my pictures. This will do the job. Thank you, Mr. Kelby!

Best-selling author Scott Kelby is well known for his plain-English style, his humorous tone, and his unparalleled ability to cut through all the technical jargon that other authors use when writing about image-editing programs.
