Grief book

I rally like this book. I not only got it for myself but for my sister after the death of our Mom.

Very Comforting and A Wonderful Way to show You Care

The individual meditations crystallized what went through my mind after a loved one was lost. It is hard to discuss with friends the feeling of being cheated by life, or the need to hold on to the lost persons dirty socks and dishes, used magazines etc just to keep all parts of them alive in your mind. This book does that and more. It shows that what you are feeling is not uncommon and gives hope that you too will someday feel able to cope with the world again.

Healing After Loss

When my fifty three year old husband dropped dead from a massive heart attack six years ago, a dear friend (who had suffered the tragic loss of her young teenage daughter) sent me a copy of this book. Many well intentioned people give THINGS in times of woe. Perhaps, because this offering came from a dear childhood friend, I immediately trusted it. For two years, it became part of my life line. Each morning, I would start my day (and soon looked forward to the inspiration) with this small book. I felt hope, often identifying with the passages. I have subsequently selectively gifted copies of HEALING AFTER LOSS. It's simple wisdom, for unfortunate friends facing similar passages comforts. I still pull it out and leaf through the pages often searching for a little extra something to help me through a difficult moment. Martha Whitmore Hickman's collection is a gift that keeps giving when we are at our lowest stage of confusion. I highly recommend it.

Very helpful

This book is very comforting after losing a loved one. I'm not sure about the organization; I would have preferred to have it seperated into chapters dealing with specific issues, ie., guilt, anger, sadness etc. Instead it is a collection of random thoughts and quotes for every day of the year. Still, I highly recommend it.
