Zoo-maniac
My 17 month old daughter asks to
read
this book over and over. She points at the colored spots as they change.
Put Me in the Zoo
My grandchildren(ages 3 & 4) were fascinated with this library book. They wanted it
read
over and over, in fact, they loved it so much that I decided to buy it. It is an excellent reader for
beginner
s and they get great fun out of attempting to read the words.
Lot of family history with this book, so I was predisposed to love it
My father loved this book, and so he
read
it often to me. Now I read it often to my nieces. I love it
all
the more for the connection to my personal history.
This is a fun story (the illustrations, showing the children's reactions, are hysterical) about a critter who wants to live in the
zoo
, and to prove that he should he shows off all the tricks he and his spots
can
do. Eventually he goes to the circus, everybody is happy.
I will note that the zoo depicted is a very archaic, every animal in a small, unfriendly cage type of zoo; I do not think it is sensible that he'd really like to "live this way". But when it comes up as an issue, we'll talk about it. The focus of the book is really about the cool (rhyming) tricks that can be done with spots.
I will also note that the board book version of this is seriously abridged and is, unfortunately, not very well constructed. Please just get the full edition.

Wonderful for beginning readers
My daughter is learning how to
read
, but needs more confidence. You should have heard her gleefully reading this book on her own. She re
all
y enjoyed it.
A classic
My daughter-in-law asked me to help find this book - she told me it was my son's favorite and he wanted to have it for my grandson. I had no idea! I shouldn't have been surprised, though - I remember it fondly from my childhood too.
Illus. in color. Spot, a polka-dot leopard who
can
change colors and even juggle his own spots, tries to convince two children that he is special enough to be exhibited in the
zoo
.
