Good material
This book is wonderfully broken up into chapters highlighting specific styles or products. This is a must have for anyone in the trade that need to identify estate pieces or designers looking to see what the old houses did in the past. Highly recommended.
A Must!
This is in my modest opinion the best book about
Cartier
. Amazing photos with fine text. Much more than the classic coffee table book. Offers insight into the most important periods of Cartier, the designs and the artistic talents of their creators. Biographies of the artists of the famous jewelry house, recent history, famous clients and how the businesses got started. The photos are wonderful; I only wish there were more of them. A MUST!

Amazing book
This absolutely fabulous book is a very complete history of the House of
Cartier
, with a special emphasis in the early 20th century designs. It features chapters dedicated to the 1925 exhibition, the Ballets Russes, the great transactions and the comissions for the maharajas; and it shows everything, from vanity cases and watches to tiaras, bandeaux and aigrettes. The photographs are vivid and detailed, on clean black or white backgrounds that allow the pieces to shine. It includes some interesting historic photos and illustrations, as well as an invaluable text, filled with details, anecdotes and a very complete study of the pieces and styles mastered by this great jewelry house.

Great history book and PICTURES!
After viewing the "Carier and America" show at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco I had to get this book. It includes most everything we saw at the exhibit plus more. The history of
Cartier
and the people who commissioned pieces and more are included. And of course there are the pictures! Exactly what you want, large, clear, detailed beautiful pictures. This is the only book you need for everything Cartier.

From modest beginnings in Paris to predominance in the world of high fashion, the rise of the house of
Cartier
is comprehensively chronicled in this lavish volume. In the 1980s Cartier granted Hans Nadelhoffer exclusive access to its archives in order to write the definitive history. Long out of print, Nadelhoffer's exhaustive research has been revived with lush new photography and design sketches of the world's most distinctive and finely crafted jewelry. Through charming and compelling anecdotes, these famed gems and the elite clientele who don them are brought to life. This fully illustrated account is the essential complement to any jewelry lover's collection, and will satisfy the longings of all those who covet this legendary brand.
