Don't get Kindle version

Very well written and insightful but much of the text on the Kindle is too small to read. Get the hard copy instead.

Life-Changing Book

This was the first book that I picked up after a devastating divorce. With my world in pieces around me, I sought comfort in Martha Beck's words, devouring them daily. This book gave me hope that I could indeed begin again and achieve the fulfilling life of which I have always dreamed. One year later, I picked it up again to reread and am getting all sorts of new insights that I missed the first time. I am blown away by how far I have come, and I give credit to Martha Beck for getting me back on track.

The book contains many interactive exercises to assist the reader in identifying both what is "right" and what is "wrong" in his or her life. It also details the stages that we go through as we tackle major life changes. All of this is interspersed with the author's humor and sensitivity.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone going through a major life upheaval or simply feeling "numb inside" from going through the motions for so many years. Don't allow yourself to go on with that feeling of "something missing." I can speak from experience...there is something better out there, sometimes in the most unlikely places.

I have read just about every career development book out there that's designed to identify what your life dream and goals are and how to make them come true.

This is the BEST! By far! Finding Your North Star is inspiring and practical. I recommend it for anyone who's serious about investigating who they are, what truly turns them on, makes their heart beat faster, and is willing to do the work to make it all happen. Except it really wasn't about "work" for me once I got in tune with my North Star. Martha Beck put so much in beautiful perspective, and her imagery was very poignant and inspired me to take the necessary steps, however she helped me be so aligned with the process that it was relatively painless and very fruitful. She mixes idealism with a heavy dose of realism that is perfect for the person who knows that it's just not about a single moment of "rah-rah" but also knows that the right path is not tortuous hard work but a thrilling exercise in discovering oneself and nurturing that passion that is truly you. The energy around the hard work that would be necessary was transformed from feeling arduous to running a tough race with delight and anticipation.

I've found my North Star, and I changed my career focus as a result. I know that as I move forward in life, that I'll realign to my North Star again and again, and will have her ideas, processes and inspiration to buoy me forward. Martha Beck has helped me to appreciate myself more fully, and have the courage to make some major changes in my life that I would not have made otherwise.

Martha Gives You the REAL Keys to the Kingdom of Personal Freedom

I came to this excellent book via The Joy Diet, and Leaving the Saints -- previous books I loved by this hilarious, brainy, irreverent, zany, altogether brilliant and engaging author. Even her dog Cookie has great life lessons to impart.
