My 4 mo old loves this book!

I bought this book for her when she was 2 months and she grew to love books. I read it to her in English, and my husband translates it into Cantonese. The verses are very rhythmical in both languages, and the pictures are simple and colorful.

TODDLER MUST BOOK

THIS BOOK HAS BEEN A FAVORITE FOR ALL OF MY GRANDCHILDREN. THEY LOVE THE RHYME, THE ANIMALS, AND THE LOVE.

My daughter's favorite book

My daughter is 2 and she loves this book, it is her favorite. She already knows the name of all the animals in the book. I think is a very educational book and will be buying the others too.

A bit longer to read for an infant..

This book was a gift given to my daughter for Christmas. Although I love the fact that it teaches her colors and animals, I found it too long for her to "read". We get halfway through the book and then she looks away and not listen anymore. So I thought I'd only give this 3 stars. I maybe wrong because she is after all only 5 and a half months old. We'll see how she'll do with this book when she's a bit older.

Early Reader

Brown Bear is one of my favorites books to encourage young children to "read". I bought this copy for a little boy, Michael Paul. Michael is 2 years, 5 months old. His mother works for my doctor and I see her often. She tells me that Michael "reads" Brown Bear to her at his bed time. The story line is simple, the words are repetitious and the pictures give great clues to what the words say. This gives a child a feeling of reading, a powerful thrill to a non reader. While teaching first grade years ago, my young students were so fond of this book that they took to hiding it at the end of the school day so they could have it the next day.
I received a lovely note from Mom and Michael thanking me for the book. I feel that I may have started another youngster on a life of reading!

With more than two million copies sold, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? has opened up a world of learning to a generation of children. For this edition, created for the twenty-fifth anniversay in 1992, Bill Martin, Jr., restored his text to its original wording. And Eric Carle created all new pictures--based on the originals, but clearer, brighter, and truer to the colors they represent.

Bill Martin has been devoted to writing children's books for more than thirty years. He has a Ph.D. in early childhood education and he has long been a proponent of using rhyme and rhythm to teach young children how to read.

Eric Carle, illustrator of many beloved children's books, was born in the United States, but spent his early years in Stuttgart, Germany, where he studied art and design at the Academy of Applied Art. Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? was the first book he illustrated.
