Toddler Favorite!

My four year old son and my two year old daughter love this book. We have read this so many times with my daughter and she has looked at it by herself so much that the first two pages of our paperback copy have come out of the book. I am buying the hardcover edition to replace our paperback edition. My son loves the beautiful "pictures" because they remind him of our yearly trips to the beach in the summer. Young children love this book! The beautiful illustrations hold their attention and the rhythmic story has a calming effect on the most fidgety toddler. This is also our favorite book to read with the kids because it does take you right back to your favorite memories of the beach.

HOW THE SEA SHOULD BE SEEN!

This is a delightful book in so many ways. The sea, or ocean, as seen through the eyes, ears, nose, taste and feel of a little girl, a child, and which is probably the best pay to view anything in nature, i.e. through a child's preception. Children see so much more than most adults. This is part of the wonder of this book, as it takes you back to the time when you were this little girls age. The illustrations are wonderfully done (it is difficult to distinguish some of the art from actual photographs) and fits the text perfectly. Their has been much research put into this book and their are an amazing amount of facts given in just a few pages. This is a great one to read to the class as it give plenty of opportunity on each page for discussion. It is also a great one for the children to just browse through, something I see all the time in class during thier free reading time. This is a book that should be in all school libraries, and indeed, your children's library at home. Highly recommend this one.

My 32-month-old loves it

I received my copy when I purchased the Mother Goose preschool curriculum to homeschool my daughter. This book has quickly become her new favorite. She remembers the beach vacation we took in the summer and she particularly loves spotting the seagulls, having seen Finding Nemo recently. As the one who reads it to her every night, I like that it has few words on each page and gorgeous, realistic illustrations. It should definitely hold the beach-loving youngster's attention. I highly recommend it.

Must-have book for all ocean lovers!

I purchased this book for my 8 month old daughter 1.5 years ago. The combination of the amazingly real and vividly colorful illustrations and the descriptive text makes for such a great read! My daughter, now 2, loves this book and insists that we read it to her nightly; it never gets old!

Beautiful illustrations and beautiful writing

This book uses the five senses (sight, sound, touch, taste, smell) to wonderfullly describe the ocean. Not only is it beautifully written, but the illustrations are amazing - making you feel as if you're standing on the beach yourself. My 2 1/2 year old loves this book and asks me to read it to him over and over again. After borrowing this book from the library, we've decided to purchase our own copy.

Spend a day at the beach, and take in the ocean through the senses of sight, hearing, feeling, taste, and smell in this lively romp through sand and waves. Glorious illustrations of water, sun, and sky accompany brief, evocative verses, making this a perfect keepsake of a seaside vacation or a striking introduction to the pleasures of a day by the ocean.
