The Best Commentary Available

The book will be most appreciated by those searching for a true grace-oriented scholar who glorifies the Lord, not himself, in his writings. Words cannot describe how inspirational this work is. Unger's pedigree is outstanding, his scholarship supreme and his style easy-going and understandable. When reading his Commentary, one can imagine taking feverish notes at his class lectures at Dallas Theological Seminary. What a rare honor and treat that would have been! This book is the Magnum Opus of the greatest Old Testament Scholar of our time.

Outstanding! Few can equal it, if any.

I can't improve on what the other reviewer has said. Indeed, as he said, "This book is the Magnum Opus of the greatest Old Testament Scholar of our time."

Very evangelical and Christ honoring. To you who love the Old Testament, get this book! Great to see it back in print, and may it stay there.

Extremely illuminating commentary!

For the price, you cannot find a better OT commentary! Actually, you'd probably be hard pressed to find much better period! There is more valuable information contained in this one volume than most commentaries I've seen manage in multiple volumes. Unger's style is moderately technical, yet easily understood by the average reader. His theology is conservative, dispensational, and completely Christ centered. His knowledge of OT history, prophecy, theology and Hebrew is outstanding, and his insights are extremely helpful. Pertinent Scripture references are used liberaly throughout the text, which is VERY useful in helping the reader gain deeper understanding of what the bible is teaching, and how Scripture interprets Scripture. Unger was very skilled in illuminating how the Old Testament ties into the New. This commentary has breathed new life into my growing appreciation for the Old Testament!

This commentary on the entire Old Testament represents Merrill Unger at his very best. Just as he did in the classroom for over twenty years, Dr. Unger pours his heart and soul into teaching the Word. As one student said, Dr. Unger had a way of being absorbed in the verses but then lifting the students into the heavens as to what the Lord was telling us in the words of the text.
