# 4 in the "Father Tim" "Mitford" series;

It's once again time for Cynthia's annual tea party and the dreaded armoire has to be moved.

Max Stroupe is running for mayor against the incumbent Ester Cunningham and folks are none-too-happy about it. He's planning barbecues and other events as part of his campaign tactics and talking change which some residents want while others don't.

Longtime Mitford residents Joe Ivy, the barber and his sister Winnie who owns the bakery are planning on moving to Tennessee, causing heartache for Father Tim.

Hal Owen hires an assistant for his vet business. The Baxter residence is up for sale with a prospective out-of-town buyer. Father Tim attempts to help Pauline Barlowe locate her other children that she gave up. Harley is sick and moves into the rectory spare room to be cared for by Lace Turner, Father Tim and Cynthia.

Bishop Stuart announces the upcoming retirement of Father Tim in 18 months.

Harley moves into the rectory basement.

By the end of the book, we don't "hear" who is gets elected as mayor but it is intimated.

Vacation in Mitford

It is great taking a vacation in the small town of Mitford. I was given this book and read it before I realized it was the fourth in a series! Nonetheless, I loved it and immediately bought books one and two. After taking a short break, I am looking forward to beginning the third.

Buck Leaper returns, Lace falls in love with Dooley, Ester loose mayor race, Barnabas hurt

Dooley returns from school and steals Lace hat. Lace hits Dooley in the ribs and demands her hat back. Dooley returns the hat to Lace.

Barnabas runs out the door, chases a squirrel and is hit by a vehicle that does not stop. Dooley orders Father Tim to grab blankets, tells Lace not to touch Barnabas because he will bit, wraps Barnabas snout with a muzzle, and applies pressure to Barnabas chess to prevent bleeding. Barnabas survives. Lace falls in love with Dooley

Real Estate sales are on Father Tims mind. We will think about 30 days, is Father response. A company wants the home for $190k with an asking price of $300k: outdated heating, out of code electrical wiring, need of new roof, and renovations drop offering price and pose the possibility of condemnation.

Ester Cunningham loses her race for Mayor.

Buck drinks hard liquor and Mrs Barlow joins in for a taste. Buck decides to leave Mitford, ashamed. "Buck shouldn't have done that", says the little girl. However, Buck returns and accepts the Lord and his will for him.

Secret purchases by Edith Mallory are revealed and Father Tim thwarts her efforts to acquire prime real estate in down town Mitford. argh says Edith, while traveling in Europe.

I have read the whole series starting with At Home in Mitford, over and over. There is something in the characters that you just love and its homey and comfortable. makes you wish you lived there. love them. cannot wait for more.
