Finally Learning

Had my alto sax for a while, now I'm practicing a few times a week with this set. For now I just want to learn the basics and this set does it for me (this is my second book). I like that this one comes with an easy to use DVD and a CD to follow what's in the book. The DVD doesn't correlate with the book but, but that's not a problem. The book is rather slim, but for the price it's worth what I paid.

Just what I was looking for

Bought this for my son to give to his dad. Dad played the alto sax in high school and 25 years later wanted to pick it up again. This was a great aid to re-introduce him to the basics.

It delivers for me!

I bought a saxophone one month ago. I am not a musician, could not read notes, but have a great musical ear and memory. My alto sax is a vintage Conn, naked lady, a sheer beauty of a sax!
This method taught me how to read notes within one week, with daily practice sessions every morning and afternoon. I like the progressive method of going from simple melodies to more and more complex ones. With my headset on, and the CD in the laptop, I can listen to the exercise track first, then stop it and replay, playing along. Repeat as many times as necessary!
Believe it or not, I already joined a New Horizons Band, and as of today, I can play one piece in the band: The Magnificent Seven!!! I think that is quite an accomplishment, after only 2 practice sessions.
It takes practice, of course, but this method helps a bloody beginner like to to get a nice, gentle and sure-handed progression into playing my wonderful sax!
