Everything there is to know about the battles of Fallujah
This book has incredible detail and even included color pictures. This book is from a political perspective on the
battle
s of
Fallujah
and explains everything that happened leading up to the battles, and teaches you about all the key people involved in what happened. There are parts where he goes down to the grunt's perspective on the battle to describe some of the vicious fighting, but mostly looks at the big picture.
Great, tells the true story of our brave Marines, and exposes the flaws of other news reports and politics.
This book is great, I loved it. It details how the Marines were deployed, attacked, stopped, restarted and stopped again. This exposes the political and military leaders lack of communication, and proof that if we simply listened to the troops, we could have avoided this. It shows how exaggerated the civilian casualties truly were, and what brave and heroic warriors serve us. Details the combat, the politics, and everything in between. Great book, must read.

Political, Strategic, and Tactical perspective
I bought "Lone Survivor" based on a recommendation from a friend. I found "No
True
Glory
" near it and picked it up also, not knowing much about the book. It sat on my bookshelf for a while. I finally picked it up a couple of weeks ago. I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN! It explores the political aspects in a larger picture and shows how external influences can affect other operations. I couldn't help but think of Carl von Clausewitz' work "On War." Anyone who enjoyed this book should read up on Clausewitz and you can see how limited war and unlimited war are brought to life. (Yet I don't recommend reading "On War" unless you have trouble sleeping. It is a great cure for insomnia.)
Then there are the stories of the individuals performing heroic acts that make all of the political and strategic discussions melt away. You are totally immersed in their fight for their life and their fellow Soldiers, Marines, and even Iraqi counterparts. It goes beyond the sound bites and shows what these brave souls do everyday, and what they are willing to give up.
This should be required reading for any aspiring politician. When you send in the Armed Forces, let them do the job you sent them to do and equip them to do it.

Compelling read
I enjoyed the insights into the complex intersections of war and politics in Iraq. The descriptions of
battle
are riveting. Recommended.
VERY FAST!
Super fast! Exactly what I expected. Great quality for being used. Looks brand new, no spine damage or folded pages! Thanx!!
"This is the face of war as only those who have fought it can describe it."?Senator John McCain
Fallujah
: Iraq?s most dangerous city unexpectedly emerged as the major
battle
ground of the Iraqi insurgency. For twenty months, one American battalion after another tried to quell the violence, culminating in a bloody, full-scale assault. Victory came at a terrible price: 151 Americans and thousands of Iraqis were left dead.
The epic battle for Fallujah revealed the startling connections between policy and combat that are a part of the new reality of war.
The Marines had planned to slip into Fallujah ?as soft as fog.? But after four American contractors were brutally murdered, President Bush ordered an attack on the city?against the advice of the Marines. The assault sparked a political firestorm, and the Marines were forced to withdraw amid controversy and confusion?only to be ordered a second time to take a city that had become an inferno of hate and the lair of the archterrorist al-Zarqawi.
Based on months spent with the battalions in Fallujah and hundreds of interviews at every level?senior policymakers, negotiators, generals, and soldiers and Marines on the front lines? No
True
Glory
is a testament to the bravery of the American soldier and a cautionary tale about the complex?and often costly?interconnected roles of policy, politics, and battle in the twenty-first century.
