Great for toddlers

I can't imagine a 5-8-yr-old liking this book much, but my 3 1/2-yr-old has LOVED this book for over a year, making me read it over and over and over again. It wouldn't have been my choice for so many repeated readings, but I'm as thrilled as she is to see the daily life of an urban child who celebrates Channuka and Christmas reflected in words and pictures.

Hey a Book about Christmas and Hanukkah!

This is the first children's book I know that has a child celebrating both Hanukkah and Christmas. It is nice because it depicts it as normal for that family and doesn't drag by explaining the religious differences of the parents. Very respectful of many children's lives.

Great for preschool kids

My daughter and her preschool class really enjoyed this book. It talks about what kinds of things families do together for the Hanukkah and Christmas holidays (without going into any underlying religion), and is both fun and touching.

Every December, Emma and her family celebrate two special holidays. First comes Hanukkah, with dreidel games and lighting the menorah. Then comes Christmas, with carols, bright lights on the tree, and presents for everyone!
