Depression Recipes
I enjoyed this very much...I have the previous 4
volume
s and read them frequently to get
recipes
and enjoy the
stories
of a difficult time in our history that I know only from stories like these or from my late relatives. Gives a different historical perspective on a difficult era..one that shows the resilency of the common people faced with an almost impossible task of surviving a financial melt-down.
What a great cookbook!
The
stories
are fascinating and the
recipes
are wonderful! If you want to cook from scratch this is the book for you!
very interesting, especially if your parents grew up in this era
This book is very interesting. Just to see how people survived with literally no money is amazing. We seem so greedy in this era. It's nice to see people come together and help each other, regardless of how much money you have. Everyone came together. We need more of this mentality in todays society.

Wonderful history of recipies and Great Depression stories
Love the
stories
and
recipes
in this book. I love reading about stuff like this, and the recipes are as frugal and practical today as then.
The 5th in a series of 5 ?cookbook-journals? depicting candid personal experiences of those who survived the most challenging years in the history of our Nation, along with the foods that sustained them. This final addition also includes a composite recipe index for all 5
volume
s and a tribute to the Veterans of WW II who were the children of the
Great
Depression
, and the personal life experiences that led to the author?s self-publishing of this series.
