Exquisite!!!

Carol Cumes' chakra gardens are such a gift of beauty born of her heartfelt connection to spirit. Having enjoyed the gardens of Willka T'ika myself while in Peru, I never would have imagined a book could capture that uplifting beauty and energy one feels there. This book does just that. A must for gardener's everywhere, I would also reccomend this book for those who find themselves on any spiritual journey. Carol is a remarkable woman and this book reveals her connection to the land and it's people. The photography is stunning alone but coupled with Carol's words make's for a "coffee table book" worth spending time reading. The purpose of the book, though, cannot be forgotten as it benefits the Qechua children of the Andes who would otherwise not receive the education and care they so deserve. Kudos to Carol and the Willka T'ika Children's Fund.

Chakra Gardens - Opening The Senses Of The Soul- the award winning book by Carol Cumes will take you on a very special meditative reflective journey. If you need a vacation from every day life this is definitely the trip to take. When I saw the book cover and starting reading it all I could say was wow. The photography by Greg Asbury is spectacular and reading about the philosophy behind the Chakra Gardens is fascinating and enlightening. Each page just gets better and better. I enjoyed visiting every single garden which included the earth garden, water garden, sun garden, heart garden, sound garden, spiral garden and the Lucuma Tree Garden. The book has such a calming, healing effect. Different colors are associated with certain aspects of the garden and specific chakra points. Red is the primary color in the earth garden which includes Carnations, Fuchsias, Gladioli's, Hibiscus, Poppies and Roses. Ruda a yellow flower is the signature plant of the Sun Garden, Blues and turquoise colors stimulate the throat chakra and are widely displayed in the Sound Garden. The Aloe Vera plant which is one of the most highly valued healing plants in the Sacred Valley is the main plant in the water garden. The spiral garden colorfully displays the power of the circle in opening up intuition and spiritual reflection. The Lucuma Tree Garden is the grand maestro of all of the gardens with this ancient tree that is thousands of years old at the center. This wise magnificent tree which represents unity is greatly honored in Peru. By reading this book you will have an incredible glimpse at this tranquil Andean retreat that is breathtaking, magnificent for the eye and food for the soul while it teaches you how to create your own garden oasis regardless of location and space. The Garden As Healer

One of the best kept secrets of gardening is the spiritual transformation that one experiences each time one enters a garden to tend, to admire or to escape. For that reason, a chakra garden is not an altogether new concept to the passionate gardener. It may also help others understand the spirituality that some gardeners have reported experiencing.

A chakra garden is a botanical environment that provides a place of rest and healing. The author believes that nature provides healing energies that can benefit us when we choose to sit in a garden. This view is reinforced by healing gardens that have recently been built at some hospitals throughout the United States as part of a program for convalescence or palliative care. Ever wonder how a flower hypnotizes a flying insect to drink its nectar and pollinate it in the process? Just look at the magnified photos and you will wonder no more. Seeing a flower from the perspective of an insect is a visual experience not to be missed. Secondly, the enlarged beauty of the flower is both magnificent and overwhelming. Focus for a moment on any one of these brilliant pictures and you might be transported to a place you never thought imaginable. Reading this book is in itself a chakra garden experience.

Stunning photography, inspiring writing

The photography in Carol Cumes's book is absolutely breathtaking, and the writing that accompanies each garden and chakra is informative as well as poetic and inspiring. I have visited the Chakra Gardens at Willka T'ika, and they are truly as stunning as these photographs. Carol has created a small paradise on Earth in Peru's Sacred Valley. Visitors there are transported by the beauty and the energetic vibration. If you can't visit Willka T'ika's Chakra Gardens in person, this is the next best thing. You will be lifted to a place of peace, wisdom, and inspiration by the words and images in this book. To call it a "coffee table book" is to do it a disservice; I would call it an "altar book." You will not regret owning your own copy.
