Thomas Jefferson
I found that this DVD gave a good perceive of "
Thomas
Jefferson
", but had to watching "John Adams" to get the total picture of who Thomas Jefferson was and how he thought.
great introduction to Thomas Jefferson
What a great introduction to
Thomas
Jefferson
! There are touches on controversies that seem nicely balanced. The thesis that Gore Vidal voices that Jefferson is the spirit of the American narrative in the flesh - that he is it - is beautifully substantiated by the emphasis on the paradoxes that we can find in Jefferson's life and match those with the same paradoxes in the life of the nation. There is a very nice development of the relationships between Jefferson and his contemporaries - especially Adams. Lots of scenes of Monticello and a wealth of resources gathered from a world of sources all make this a great learning tool and entertaining at the same time.

Revered as the author of the Declaration of Independence yet condemned as a slave owner,
Thomas
Jefferson
has entered a new era of controversy. This penetrating biography first portrays the young Jefferson from the Virginia wilderness, transformed by the philosophic fire of the American Revolution. Torn between his career and family life at Monticello, he suffers heartrending personal loss even as he pens a new concept in democratic government. Follow Jefferson's rising star as he becomes U.S. Minister to France, enters national politics, fulfills his destiny as President and begins his busy retirement years.
