The Tenth Kingdom

I received the purchase of the Tenth Kingdom in good time and in good condition. No cause for complaints with those items. I have enjoyed the video. I would recommend Amazon and the individual from whom I purchased the video to anyone. The video is not animated in a way that the animation is obvious and interferes with the story-In other words, any animation is transparent to the plot, action, and characters. All seems like events in real life.

Was not dissapointed!

This Dvd was in great condition, no scratches at all. I was very happy with my purchase. Was also pleased to find that it worked in my dvd player as I am from New Zealand. I was would recomend that any 10th kingdom lover buy this Dvd as it is worth the price.

GREAT FUN

I loved THE 10TH KINGDOM when it first aired back at the turn of the millenium, and wondered why others didn't seem to get it. The fact that it had John Larroquette, Rutger Hauer, Diane Wiest,Camryn Manheim, Ed O'Neill, Ann Margaret, Kimberly Williams ( at her most winsome ), and a hilarious Scott Cohen, should have made it a 'must see,' but that didn't happen. This six hour epic fantasy has it all- great villains ( that manage to, by turns, or in combination, be evil, dumber than posts, and/or funny ); wonderful heroes ( that are unsure of themselves, reluctant, witty, roguish at times, but there when it counts ), and of course a simple quest ( which turns out to be anything but ). THE 10TH KINGDOM is what great storytelling is all about, and proves that television is sometimes capable of getting things right.

This is my 2nd dvd of this magical event ( after having worn out my VHS tape ). The quality is fine for the price.

Okay

If your interested in the whole fairytale stuff such as Snow White, Red Riding Hood, and stuff like that then you would prefer this. If your not a fan, then don't buy it. It's a great mini-series in all but nothing to worship. A person that likes the mini-series 'Alice' and 'Tin Man' would like this DVD. Entertaining and a great family movie but if your looking for action then don't worry about it. I seen it when it came on NBC and watched it numerous times over the years and never grew tired of it.

Goofy and worth owning

The dvd set is great. It includes 3 disc and for its price it is totally worth it. I remember watching this on NBC tv it seemed soo long but probably because of the commercials and stuff, I mean it is long but its amusing and I enjoyed watching it after I bought the dvd recently. Why should you buy it? because it is cheap and you don't often find dvds of this type it is like a fairytale fantasy land you will get a good laugh. The acting isn't too bad even though its cheesy at times. Its a good movie to watch with the whole family

This epic 10-hour miniseries from the Emmy-winning writer of Gulliver's Travels was a ratings bust on television, but on video and DVD, where it can be enjoyed at one's leisure, it has a better chance to cast its magical spell. Kimberly Williams has never been more enchanting than as Virginia, a waitress who still lives with her janitor father (John Larroquette) and yearns for something exciting to happen to her. Her wish comes true when she and her father are transported from New York City into a dimension that, with apologies to Rod Serling, can only be called the Fairy Tale Zone; nine kingdoms populated by characters from fairy tales of yore. They team up with a dog who's really a prince--Wendell, grandson of Snow White--changed into canine form by the evil Queen (Dianne Wiest), who plots to usurp Wendell's throne. Father, daughter, and his royal dogness are relentlessly pursued through the nine kingdoms by the Troll King (Ed O'Neill) and his three bumbling and horrible children, and the conflicted Wolf (Scott Cohen), who is allied with the Queen but, with the aid of some Oprah-esque self-help books, tames his inner beast and falls in love with Virginia. The 10th Kingdom is a special effects extravaganza. There is indeed, as one character marvels, magic to behold here. But despite the Hallmark brand name and the presence of a grown-up Snow White (Camryn Manheim) and Cinderella (Ann-Margret), bewitched animals, magic mirrors, and trolls, this is not kid's stuff. It can get scary, surprisingly violent, and quite intense; you know, just like real fairy tales. --Donald Liebenson
