Much better than my golf GPS unit!
I love this thing! It works just as advertised. The pinseeker mode is intuitive and accurate. It has definitely increased my confidence in club selection, even on a course I play nearly every day. Since I received my
Bushnell
Medalist
my golf GPS unit has been gathering dust in the garage. (For reference, my index is 8.5 and I usually score in the mid to high 70's.)
The pinseeker mode is what really makes this
rangefinder
so useful. It has no problem at all picking out the flag from the background. On my course there is a large metal-sided maintenance building about 40 yards behind the 18th green, and when I range the flag for my approach, this metal building is nearly always directly behind the flag. Even with this worst-case scenario the Medalist has no problem giving me the correct yardage. (One caveat: you need to be able to see most of the flagstick. If there is a hill between you and the flag, and you can only see the top of the flag, then the Medalist has a little more trouble, probably due to the reflections being scattered by the crest of the intervening hill.)
Overall, I am completely satisfied with this rangefinder, and I highly recommend it!

Super easy and accurate
This little jewel arrived Thursday and I just finished playing a round with it today. It's very easy to operate and returns distances VERY fast. The pinseeker functionality was such a big hit that my playing partner quit using his GPS and sought the distance through this
Bushnell
. I had a cheaper Sonocaddie model that I picked up at Walmart that didn't work well at all. This one is spot on (no pun intended). Really happy with it.
Bushnell Medalist Laser golf review
I used to have the
Bushnell
Tour V2 and it worked great but I lost it and it never got returned. I bought this one because of the drop in price made it really attractive. I don't like it quite as much as the V2 which was vertically held and slightly more compact, but the
Medalist
works very well. The biggest difference I see is I have to double check the readings to ensure I got it right. I always do that anyway, but it seems I get a few more false readings with the Medalist than I did with the V2. Do the double check and you should be good to go and happy with this one, especially the price. I paid $222 delivered.

I debated between the different
rangefinder
s. I also debated a lot between rangefinder and a Skycaddie or similar GPS. I am very happy with the
Medalist
. The pinseeker feature is awesome. You are never in doubt whether you have the correct reading. From 200 yards and in you can pick up a reading in a second and know you picked up the flag. From 200-250 it is a little tougher but still rather easy. I didn't want to be the annoying guy who was looking through and messing with the rangefinder all day. That's not a worry at all. After tinkering with it for a couple minutes you basically have it figured out. You get to your ball, pull out the rangefinder, have the yardage in a second and your done. Compared to a gps unit I am very glad I bought the rangefinder. My playing partner has a Skycaddie and we have played several times with both the skycaddie and rangefinder in the cart. 9 out of 10 shots I would much rather have the rangefinder. It's quicker and more accurate. Once and a while you get blocked by trees or a hidden pin, but usually you can just walk a few yards one way or another and get a quick reading. I also love the rangefinder for the driving range. You can shoot the different flags or signs and find out the true distances rather than just guessing. It's also nice just to use as binoculars. If you're not sure if you're on the green or made the fairway bunker, usually you can look through the medalist and find out. It's also very nice on doglegs, fairway bunkers, etc. to get a reading on a certain tree or bunker to figure out what to hit. Compared to other rangefinders, I was a little nervous about getting this compared to the higher zoom models. I think this is just fine. I'm sure the extra zoom would help a little on 200+ yard readings but the medalist is still great.

Love the Bushnell Medalist Rangefinder
I have been using a 'Sky Caddie' for a couple of years. The Sky Caddie requires a yearly registration fee and it is EXTREMELY difficult to download courses where I am planning on playing. I was in a large tournament in May and the course was not even available to download from Sky Caddie! All the contestants who had the Sky Caddie were complaining about their inability to download that particular course.
The
Bushnell
Medalist
Laser
Rangefinder
has made such a big difference in my game. Love the fact that the measurement in right to the flag and not like the Sky Caddie (Front, Middle, or Back of the Green).

EVERY GOLFER WANTS SPIN, DISTANCE AND PINSEEKER. With its sleek horizontal profile the
Medalist
is about two things: Lower scores and PinSeeker technology. Quick and natural to the eye, the Medalist acquires flags tucked in the deepest corners of the green despite background clutter that befuddles lesser
rangefinder
s. Wherever evil lurks anywhere on the course, the Medalist with PinSeeker provides you with the information you want, to make the shot you need.
