Slow scanning and copying. Wireless instructions incomplete/incorrect for Vista.

After reading some good reviews of this product I went out and bought it. I was skeptical about inkjet technology but the specs appeared to be impressive and the reviews good. However, scanning and copying are much slower than I anticipated. Even at low quality it took 22 seconds to copy a sheet of paper. My laserjet 3015 all-in-one which is 4 years old copies a sheet in a few seconds. However, printing speeds were much better.

I am an advanced user and the instructions on page 5 of the "Wireless Getting Started Guide" to change from a USB connection to a wireless connection did not work with the Vista OS. Following the procedure simply reinstalled the software. HP did not having any support tips on the problem on their website. As a result, I have yet to try out wireless printing. However, my experience with HP support has been good and I expect to get a good response from them.

Despite the problems with scanning speeds and converting to a wireless connection, the fact that you can get a color all-in-one machine for less than 200 dollars with a cartridge cost per sheet comparable to laser printers is quite impressive. With refilled cartridges the cost per page may even be much less than laser printers. I hope to find out.

Does the Job

This printer does everything I need it to do. I've used everything but the fax option. I have to agree it goes through the ink pretty fast but overall, a very good buy. I had no problems with the wireless connection to my laptop. In fact, I had more problems inserting the ink cartridges than hooking up the wireless connection. You can't go wrong with this printer.

EXCELLENT!

I give this product 5 out of 5 especially because of the connectivity options. The wireless works perfectly- even allowing you to enter a WPA key right from the front panel. The wireless scan/print and fax functions also work great. The duplexer works- everything works! I bought one for a customer, and I'm definitely going to buy one for me next!

This is awesome.

After almost 10 years with the HP 932c printer, we upgraded to this, and WOW!, were we missing out on a lot! This printer works beautifully, is easy to use, and very well designed. All of the features I didn't think I needed (ie. memory card slots, fax, double-sided print)... well, now I don't know what life was like without them.

The only cons so far... The wireless is tricky to set up (Norton Antivirus doesn't like it), and the print speed is not real impressive. But those are not life-or-death issues for me. I can always use USB or ethernet connections, and it's still faster than my old one.

Buy it. (Did I mention it's CHEAP for what you get?!)

I agree there are installation problems

For wireless, there are issues, I love the design and look of the print, I just wish I could print something off of it...but I can't because I'm too busy trying to get it to hook into my WIFI. I work for a reseller and I know my clients love this product to pieces, which is why I am giving it 4 stars...
