Good, but annoying design flaw

I love the way my teeth feel after using this toothbrush. There is simply no comparison between the Sonicare and a cheap electric toothbrush (let alone a "regular" hand held). The vibration takes a couple of uses to get accustomed to, and I'm not sure it would feel great if you have overly sensitive teeth. There are different settings which are essentially different time settings (for a quick clean or a longer clean). Not sure how critical the feature is, but it works.

There is just one annoying feature of the toothbrush. The controls for the different speeds and timing are all on side of the handle, and I am constantly hitting them accidentally while I'm brushing, either turning it off, or changing the mode mid-session. Not the end of the world, and I'm not sure what other design would allow you the options this brush provides. That is the only reason that I give this brush 4 and not 5 stars.

better than oral-b

the vibration is better designed to get between teeth-to-gums and teeth-to-teeth. oral b is more like a sanding machine and makes me concerned about enamel wear.

the color of this item is more of a light pastel green and not blue as on many images. it does come with only 1 head -- kind of skimpy there -- which is the standard "pro" size. if it were the compact size i doubt it would wrap around several teeth properly as this one does.

a great thing is the deluxe charger. what this means is that there is a cap on it that allows you to stand up two brushes but if you remove the cap on the charger base, then it becomes travel compact, less than 2 inches wide! i really like that part of the design.

Good toothbrush. But not much better than my prev Elite

I've owned a Philips Sonicare before this. I dont remember the model. But it was their top-of-the line brush about 4 yrs ago. It stopped working since the little green button got jammed. Both that model & this one have it sealed. So you cant fix it yourself, God forbid that happens. So go easy on that button.

As far as the brushing action is concerned, if you have NEVER used a sonic brush before, then yeah - its great. I've read some reviewers stating toothpaste flying about. You have to be a "leetle stoopid" not to figure around this, if you dont get it right the first time. Just apply the paste about on all your teeth till there's nothing sitting on the brush head. Then operate it.

Another comment was that the brush is a little loud. No its not. And I live in a quiet environment. Its not noiseless of course. Someone near you will hear it. Not the neighbours.

It has a massage mode that is quite nice. You still brush with the same bristles really. But the pulses are more controlled.

The 2 min brush cycle beeps every 30 secs or so to remind you to change position. Again, that's not a new feature over the old brush. Also, the most important point is IMO, the brushing action. I dont consider it to be superior to the prev Sonicare Elite. It did not feel that way at least.

It does have one advantage over the older model. No housing recess for the magnets. So there's no stinky gunk buildup in that chamber. You'll appreciate this if you owned the earlier models. Otherwise, disregard.

All in all, a good brush.

No I did not waste money on the sanitizer. Use Hydrogen Peroxide 3% from your friendly, or otherwise neighbourhood chemist. The sonic action with the peroxide should shake the hell off any bacteria in the bristles. Dont waste money on the sanitizer please.

Great product

Lightweight, small, easy to use, recharges quickly, I like the "massage" feature, it feels quite different from the normal vibration. My teeth feel smooth and clean when I'm finished. I believe it is far superior to my previous rotating head toothbrush. I also like the fact that if you accidently hit the On/Off switch in the middle of a brushing sequence, when you press the switch again, it will continue from where you were in the brush cycle rather than restarting from the beginning of the cycle. Pricey, but worth it in my opinion.

Sonicare Rocks!

I used to think that any power toothbrush would be as good as the next. Then I used the Sonicare and it has blown away all expectations and completely transformed my impression about electric toothbrushes.

Using this toothbrush has given me an unbelievably long lasting clean taste. It probably gets everything you're going after when you brush.

It has a quick brush setting and a longer mode for a thorough scrubbing with a timer to remind you to switch to different areas of the mouth. That's an invaluable feature!

Pros:
1. I liked the step-up power cycle feature which increases the intensity of the vibrations gradually over the first 14 brush cycles and hits peak only once you've had the chance to use it for a week to two (depending upon how many times you brush daily).
2. The brush is ergonomically designed to be easy to a) Hold b) Brush c) clean d) carry in travel pouch
3. Gum Massage feature: Lower frequency vibrations help.
4. You can wrap the excess length of the power cord in the base and hide it from view.
5. I have not replaced the brush on its base for about 3 weeks now and it is still running on half charge. This thing has an amazing battery life!

Cons:
1. Hmmm...let's see. None!

They designed this one really well and I'd be interested in knowing how they plan to improve upon this. Maybe send someone home to brush your teeth for you.
