GPX CD Player works OK, lousy battery life

Bought this CD player to play audio books in my 1996 Toyota Corolla which has a cassette but no CD. I send it thru a wireless FM transmiiter plugged into the cigarette lighter. I've had it a week and it works pretty well. Sound is OK and no skips so far. Tried a couple of Aerosmith CDs and the sound is quite clear through the car speakers, which are just Corolla standard equipment.
The ear buds are basic, sound is just fair, same as other CD players.
The controls are large and easy to use, not nearly as complicated as some other CD players I have used. The buttons seem responsive, nice that they are on the top and easily accessible. No problems with them so far. LCD screen is easy to read.
Biggest problem by far is that it seems to EAT batteries. On a single audio book, 14 CDs, I have used one set of AA alkaline batteries and have a low battery indicator on the 2nd set. Still not done with the book! Generic first set, Duracell on the second, so it's not the batteries.
It doesn't come with a power outlet adapter, you have to buy your own.
Getting hard to find CD players, if you need one this is OK but stock up on batteries.

Broke After 1 Month

My player's spring in the door broke after 1 month. I taped it together and the player lasted for about 4 more months. Don't waste your money on this. I had another Sony player that lasted about 1 year and costed twice as much. The quality on the portable cd players is lacking no matter what the brand.
