It's a Speedlight!

Bought as a slave for the 580 EX II and love it. What else needs to be said? These are high-quality products, well worth their price -- especially on Amazon!

Not bad for the price

If you are a serious photographer, I would go with the 580; as this does not have nearly the range. That being said, it works well when semi-close to the subject.

430EX II with Powershot SX10IS

Based on the recommendation of a friend/avid amateur photographer, I purchased the 430EX II for use on my Powershot SX10IS. It not only is a perfect fit for the Powershot, it is exactly what I needed. While it initially may seem technically imposing, I ignored the manual and simply put it on the Powershot, and started taking pics of my daughter's graduation, inside our church, the courtyard, and the gym, where lighting has always been an issue. Most shots were taken from 10 to 50 feet, and all pics came out perfect. I can only assume that when I really understand its true potential, I will find it to be a truly worthwhile purchase. I'm very pleased.

It's canon, enough said

A photographer friend told me to purchase a flash that was of the same make of my camera, and to spend as much money on it as I could afford. Well, I probably could stretch and afford the model above this, but this is a great flash. For inside shots, outside low light shots, and even for putting that extra bit of umpf into your shot on a sunny day. If all you have used is the pop up flash on your camera, you will be amazed. One of my best purchases in my camera accessories so far.

A one-touch quick-lock mechanism makes it easy to attach or detach the 430EX II from the camera and a metal foot has been added for strength and durability. Flash controls can now be set through the camera's LCD screen on compatible EOS Digital SLR cameras. The Speedlite 430EX II is also quieter, recycle time is 20 percent faster (as compared to the 430EX) and since it is compatible with Canon's wireless E-TTL, it can be used as an affordable "slave unit."
