DBT Skills Workbook

The book offers a nice overview and concrete structure to teach DBT skills to clients in a user-friendly way.

Bless you, Amazon

I bought this book for my daughter, who has Borderline Personality Disorder, to use as a tool for practicing her coping skills. The program she had just gone through didn't even have this, or suggest it to her. She works with it every couple days, and it helps her get through some rough patches. People with Borderline have a very specific set of needs, fears, and issues. I won't go into it here, but suffice it to say that I am grateful Amazon carried this manual, as well as others on BPD and DBT, which I also bought.
As usual, purchase was quick, relatively easy, and merchandise was delivered in a timely manner.
Thank you, Amazon.

Effective, practical

As a therapist, I use this a lot. Originally it was created for treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder. I think those skills are useful to everyone, whether we have challenges in our life, or we just want to improve our coping skills and quality of life.

Highlly Recommended!

If you are truly interested in learning and presenting advanced technicques of "minfullness" .....DBT, this book is for you. It's easily understandable and easily translated into class facilitated use.

use in groups

I use this book in groupwork with adolescents with mental health problems in an inpatient setting. I find that the examples are frequently too grown-up for the teenagers to identify with, and I find it hard to keep them motivated to keep to task in the groups.
I love the layout of the book, and frequently am excited by the content of a chapter prior to a group, only to find that the young people become bored and resistant in the face of unfamiliar examples. more transferrable examples and dilemmas please!!
