Very Durable!
After much research about this brand and using my
backpack
I realized what an excellent purchase it is! I am a very skeptical person about spending tons of money on ANYTHING, especially something as simple as a backpack, but when I found this one I was sure I would like it. My biggest issue, I did NOT want to spend $90 on a reliable backpack especially since I am a broke college student. Value counts and man does this bag fit the bill!
I went to the manufacturer's website and found out that each STM product has a lifetime warranty as long as you register your product upon receiving. HUGE plus in making my decision to get this bag, if a company is willing to stand behind their product and ensure that you are satisfied then that tells you what kind of quality product you are getting, and for them to be willing to fix it if it is dysfunctional shows how confident they are in their products!
I chose the
medium
bag because 1) it was on sale, and being a broke college student, the price makes a difference! 2) the manufacturer guarantees the product to be satisfactory and 3) it seemed to have adequate space for my macbook and various books and folders and whatever else I decided to carry around.
I have been completely satisfied with this product and would recommend it to anyone! Since it has a warranty I would venture to say that it would be suitable for kids to use from junior high thru college without a problem(and I say this from experience carrying a particular backpack for grades 5-12, I believe this one will be great all the way through college!)
PROS:
Rain cover included for those stormy walks to class!
Made very well, very durable
Has a warranty!
Fits comfortably even with a full load, no worries of anything breaking or tearing!
CONS:
Straps aren't the most comfortable, wouldn't recommend for long hikes or anything of that sort
I only found it in these colors!

One of the nicest backpacks I have seen much less owned
First this
backpack
can be bought at J&R or Dell computers for under $60.00, much less than the prices of the small or large STM
Rogue
and the price for the
medium
at most stores. Currently, I am using this backpack with a 13 inch macbook pro. The macbook pro is held in a waterfield sleeve/case inside of the backpack. I choose the medium STM Rogue(rather than the small) because I planned to use the backpack with a sleeve to protect my macbook pro. The fit of the macbook pro within the waterfield case within the STM Rogue is tight and keeps the laptop and sleeve from moving. Before purchasing this backpack, I did a bit of research to insure the waterfield sleeve/case for the macbook pro would fit within the medium STM Rogue.
Now the backpack. The STM Rogue is made of almost entirely of a denim material excluding the colo
red
inserts. The denim is high quality and feels heavy duty. At the same time, the water resistant coating of the denim is noticeable to the touch. The red inserts are made of material similar to that used in lighter weight backpacks but is softer to the touch. The zippers and pulls both appear and feel strong, and all but a few of the smaller pockets use dual zippers. The straps of the backpack are adequately padded and very easy to adjust. The interior of the backpack is lined with fabric similar to but lighter weight than the red inserts on the outside of the backpack; while the laptop compartment is lined with a soft to the touch almost felt material. The laptop compartment is in the center of the backpack (front of the rear compartment) rather than closest to the wearer's back like most laptop backpacks. The compartment seems to have a fair amount of padding to protect a laptop, although using a sleeve in addition to the backpack may still be preferred. The laptop compartment is hidden behind a panel which uses Velcro to secure itself within the backpack. While this does accomplish the task, I have opened my backpack before to notice the panel loose from its Velcro. The rear compartment of the backpack is spacious and can be expanded using the straps on the sides to hold quite a few books, yet the height of the compartment seems excessive and unusable unless you stack items vertically. The front compartment (opposite the laptop storage area) is useful and has many smaller pockets within to hold pens, pencils, calculators, small books etc..., but the pockets for the pens and pencils could be slightly more slack to ease their use when removing and storing pens and pencils. Similar can be said for the pockets in the front compartment and the small outer pockets on the face of the backpack. These pockets could be so much more useful with slightly more depth to them. Nonetheless within the front compartment of the backpack, I have no trouble carrying a pen, pencil, mini stapler, graphing calculator, and a history textbook just slightly larger than a paperback novel. The backpack also includes a chest strap, waist strap, rain cover and both an interior and a exterior mp3/cell phone holder, but these items I have currently removed or stored within the backpack, as in the case of the waist straps and rain cover. Overall while the backpack has some flaws, the quality and durability of the backpack makeup for any deficiencies, and while most backpacks of this quality are nearly $100 or more, the STM Rogue medium can be bought for much less.
Pros:
Heavy Duty Denim with Water Resistant Coating
Heavy Duty Zippers and Pulls
Large Rear Compartment
Stylish/ Quality Appearance
Decent Amount of Laptop Protection and Panel which Conceals the Laptop
but sleeve maybe still recommended for most
Front Compartment with Diverse Range of Pockets
Ventilated and Padded Straps as well as Both Chest and Waist Straps
Interior and Exterior MP3/Cell Phone Holder
Bottle Holders on Each Side of the Backpack
Ear Bud/Headphone Pass Through for an Internal MP3 Player
Rain Cover which Folds and Stores into Base of Backpack
Cons:
Velcro for Laptop Compartment Does Not Always Hold
Defeats Purpose of Hidden Compartment
Pockets in the Front Compartment Lack Depth
Limited use Two Small Frontal Pockets of the Backpack
Handle on Top of Backpack Might Have Been Better Reinforced
