Works as described

The actual ground coffee from this is perfect. However, it does make a mess, at noted in other reviews. Keep it clean and it works just fine, this is probably the best option for under $100.

Cuisinart Supreme Grind Burr Mill

This was an excellent buy. The Mill functions as advertised...a little noisy, but product is uniform and neatly contained in slide-out, plastic drawer. I would recommend it to anyone.

Good value for an above-average grind

I purchased this coffee grinder because I wanted an even, adjustable grind. Despite some of the negatives (detailed below), I would make this purchase again.

+ Functionality: It contributes to a great pot of coffee.
+ Adjustable: You can control the size and amount of the grind very easily.
+ Aesthetic: It looks good on the counter.

- Finer grinds tend to clump at the edges of the container.
- Static electricity makes it difficult to get all of the grind out.

Overall, I'm quite satisfied with this purchase.

Great for what it is...

I was pretty skeptical about the difference(s) between blade and burr grinders for coffee. However; There did appear to be a clear consensus that burr grinders are better than blade grinders if you care about the flavor of your coffee...
For great coffee you need: 1> Good water, 2> 100% Arabica Beans (if they do not identify the bean you're probably dealing with robusto), 3> Fresh Roasted (starts to go stale after about 10-14 days), 4> Fresh Ground (Starts to lose stuff the INSTANT it is ground so grind your beans RIGHT BEFORE brewing), 5> Fresh brewed (Coffee starts to change after being on heat for 20 min so turn off the heat and put it in an insulated carafe right after brewing if you want to enjoy more later)
Looks like I now have to add use a "burr grinder" instead of a "blade grinder" to my list... I would not have believed it without trying it myself. (I figured I could spend $36 on the "experiment" though) A co-worker and I arranged a blind taste test using Newhall Coffee Roaster's French Roast... (The box it arrived in shows the model as DBM-8) Apparently the CCM-16PC1 and the DBM-8 are the same device referred to using two different model numbers??? The coffee from the "blade grinder" tasted "sharp" compared to the burr grinder which tasted "smoother." We both arrived at the same results independently.
I do NOT recommend using this grinder for a "french press" - When I grind coffee for 10 cups in a "drip maker" there is about a teaspoon or more of really fine powder. So this is not a "high-end" grinder but it IS a "step-up" from a "blade grinder." I was happy to see that the cup selector is actually pretty accurate. I would also prefer a glass "catch basin" to avoid the "static cling" problem but for $36 I'm not complaining. Anyone want a "free" blade-grinder? I won't be needing my old one anymore...

Great Burr Grinder

I now own two of these great grinders. They are affordable, fast, and reliable. Compared to other burr grinders we have owned, this one is a bit louder, but seems to grind much faster. The container that receives the ground coffee has a cutoff switch that will not allow the grinder to work if the container isn't fully seated. This is a bit too sensitive. It can get clogged by stray grounds and need to be cleaned with a brush.

It seems to work better for regular drip grind than powdery espresso grind, but it is definitely a passable fine grind.
