Kids love it

We checked this CD out from the library once, and our kids kept asking us to renew it and get it again. That was good enough reason to buy our own copy. Raffi's folk-based kids music has been around for decades, and has stood the test of time. Personally, I prefer it when the kids ask for CDs like Here Come the ABCs [CD/DVD Combo]. However, this CD is palatable, and has made it in to a regular rotation in the minivan.

An old favorite of ours from way back in the day

Long before CD's were even invented, my parents and I were on vacation shopping at a record store in Washington DC, during our adoption trip for my sister. We were looking for some new music for us to add to our home library. We had all the other Raffi records they had in stock, but it just so happened that "The Corner Grocery Store," was one that we did NOT have at the time, so we bought it. I used to tape it onto a cassette so that we could have it as a car tape, and also to give as gifts to people who were having children. It has some great hits, beginning with the Ella Jenkins classic "You Sing a Song and I'll Sing a Song," and ending with an adaptation of the Weavers Classic "Goodnight Irene." I'd have to say, that our family's favorite track on the whole album is "Knees Up Mother Brown." My sister used to love to dance to that song, and we have video tape of her dancing to that song while my Dad sang it. Contrary to popular belief, Raffi did not write that song. It's a very old tune. By the way, did you know that when they made the Disney movie "Mary Poppins," the choreographer used that tune to teach Dick Van Dyke and the chimney sweeps the choreography to Step in Time?

All in all, this is a first rate recording and one that every child should have. I still listen to our VERY OLD cassette now and then. FOR GOODNESS SAKE STOP READING THIS REVIEW AND BUY THE CD!

We like this CD a lot!

This is our Second Raffi CD purchase and it is a great CD. There is so much variety in the music and the lyrics are always so much fun!! The audio quality on the CD could use some improvement though -it does sound a bit muffled which I only notice if I put it on after other digitally recorded CDs. (hence the 4 stars)

We were a bit disappointed because our first CD was Singable Songs for the Very Young which is what our kids are -very young. I was expecting more of the same, but this CD is a bit more subdued, but we still love it!!

The Best Children's music

I was looking for music for my babies that wasn't annoying, and that wouldn't drive me crazy. I have two Raffi albums, and just ordered another. Raffi is the best! We sing along all the time. He is great and not stupid like some other children's CDs. You can't go wrong with Raffi.
