beautiful recording of great music

First of all: the music of Shostakovich is beautiful. The second movement of the piano concerto is one of the most moving pieces of music I know, leaving you with an intense feeling of sadness and hope. The opus 118a which is the great 8th string quartet rewritten for string orchestra, is beautiful as well. Again, sadness and hope at the end. Shostakovich always ends his works at the first light after a very cold and dark night. Second: the performance on this record is close and direct. Great record to start your Shostakovich collection.
