THE BEST DVORAK 9 RECORDING !!!
CSO has been the best
Dvorak
orchestral interpreter since Reiner Era.
CSO's amazing Brass is the key to this recording.
Which the whole
symphony
's key is the Brass Section.
You'll never regret.
Get it before it's out of print.
#1 Reason Why I Love Classical
Believe it or not, this was the first classical cd I ever bought, about 15 years ago. Now, after listening to literally over hundreds more, this still holds a fervent piece of my heart.
I cannot add any more accolades than the many eloquent ones already written here. Still, this recording is the main reason why I started to love, and will always love classical orchestral music.
If you love Solti,I also recommend his mid-80`s Mahler No. 4, mid-70`s Beethoven No. 5,and Brahms Piano Concerto #1 with the Vienna and Andras Schiff.

GREATNESS ALL IN ONE CD:)
I really never purchased any other recording than this one, I got the naxos one and it wasn't bad, but when I heard this a
new
portal to awesome Solti Chicago
symphony
blew open! if you get this you will love it because it's high octane, loud, in tune, and sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the first movement is an awesome intro. this is such a great recording because you can hear the harsh bows on the strings in some parts; that makes it sound real. the brass is just straight forward blow your face off without killing anybody.
the second movement might make you cry because it's absolutely beautiful. and the woodwinds are not out of tune, if that person knew what music should sound like this movement would be perfect to him, but it's perfect anyway with a loud section in it too.
the third is really fast and bright. the opening sounds like Beethoven's 9th 2nd movement which I'm sure that's what
Dvorak
meant to do. But after that it's all fast getting ready for the finale! great harsh string sound just makes this movement work as does it in the second movement.
finally the finale is all she wrote on this cd. I listened to this on my stereo and shook the house. the trombones deliver nicely when they have the melody before the key change. The trombones make the hair on my head stand up every time. powerful!!!! all power!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THAT'S CHICAGO! you will not regret buying this album! i don't regret getting it for sure!!!!!!!
