Easy setup, performance is very good

I have two networked PC's, a printer, and Verizon Expander as well as a laptop and Xbox 360. I currently use the Linksys WRT54GL Wireless G router without problems. But I needed more than four ports to use DirectTV's Video on Demand and allow for expansion. I purchased this product to place in front of the wireless router. The setup required some searching on Linksys's support site to get the connections and setup correct. I placed the Ethernet cable from the RoadRunner modem into this router. Port 1 cable went to Port 1 of the Wireless Router. Port 2 & 3 for the PC's, port 4 for the printer. Port 2 on the Wireless Router for the Expander, Port 3 for the DirectTV and Port 4 available. After getting everything setup, it has worked perfectly. I did have a problem with the CD included for installation but like I said, the support site provided the needed information.

Works with Windows 7

I recently purchased a rather well used version of this router, and although it was my first router, setup was straightforward. Granted, I had to download the quick-start guide from LinkSys, since no documentation came with the used version. But following those instructions, using Windows 7, I was able to easily set up a network with several computers and internet access. Though it's clearly old and well used, I'm happy with its speedy internet performance. A great product, by my experience.

Perfect router

When I got this, I did feel like I was in over my head due to the fact I never hooked anything like this up to my machines. I have to say, it was super easy to hook up. It just took a few a minutes to rearange the cables and get back online. Works fine for me and very happy with it.

Setup fails in Windows 7 but Router works. Abysmal support.

I'm running Windows 7 and the setup utility for the router gives a failure message and tells you to push the reset button and try again. Pushing the reset button and trying setup again does not work. However if you ignore the message, don't push the reset button and just start using the router after running setup it works! Tech support was unreachable in a reasonable amount of time. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. There is no firmware revision beyond what came with the router anyway (version 4.5). The router does work with my PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 game consoles so far. I bought this more expensive router because it is a name brand and I expected professional support if I needed it. With this lack of support and apparent incompatability with Windows 7 I should have bought the cheaper router at 1/3 the price. They both are made in China anyway. Apparently the hardware is good but the setup software, firmware and tech support are abysmal.
