Old fashioned FUN & Great traditional desserts for the family!

Wanted an ice cream maker "just like Granny had in the 50's & 60's..." Got it with our White Mountain! It worked a bit stiff at first, but needed to "get with the program" and did by the second batch work much better. Preferred the hand crank to the electric as always have understood that the electric wouldn't freeze the ice cream quite as hard... works perfect... you do have to unload it and get your ice cream to the freezer to get that final finished freeze. I know our family will enjoy MANY, MANY years of making ice cream together now... can pass it down through the generations to the kids and further... is heavy duty and very durable.

A Bit Disappointed

I got this for my husband who has complained about electric ice cream makers for years. He was so excited and couldn't wait to make a batch of ice cream. However, the tub leaks which prevents the ice cream from freezing very hard. I have hesitated to review it because we have not yet tried to get a replacement.

I am completely pleased with the product to date. I have read the negative comments from other users but think the problems are caused by improper use. It appears that operators are over churning (continue to churn after the mixture has frozen). This excessive torque results in wear and tear of the gears as well as other problems. Some corrosion of the metal parts should be expected although this has not happened to my product. Once frozen, the mixture should be packed with ice and rock salt and covered for a couple of hours.
